Battlefield 6 Open Beta This weekend 6/7/25

Battlefield used to be my thing when I played on Console. BF3 to BFV I played a lot of over the years. Since moving to PC I have played little to no Multiplayer shooters. I really like the back to basics look with BF6 though so I'm willing to give it a go.

Anyone else interested at all?

Very interested, beta is already downloaded and ready to play when it goes live.

Hopefully a return to the glory days, I've gone off shooters this era with all the Battle Royale and Halloween costume skins focus and I think a lot of people have too.

They could be on to a winner here if they just stick to the basics that made BF3,4 and 1 great.

Looks promising so far but so did 2042. Fingers crossed its a return to form.

Looks promising I just wish the classes were more restricted like the old games. From what I understand you can use pretty much any weapon and gadget with any class. This is to encourage "flexibility" but I think that's BS. To me their main goal with that is to just sell more skins, players will be more incentivized to buy that $30 skin if they can use it for any class.

Now all those snipers getting 2 kills per game by camping in their own spawn will have the option to throw an ammo box for themselves. Everybody else will be using assault rifles in all the classes.

I'm actually looking forward to seeing how they do Battle Royale. I used to love that style of shooter but the current games are pretty lackluster now a days.

It's tempting to get swept up in the hype, but I think all the cool stuff they're showing off is poor balance as a marketing tool and after sales have peaked they'll issue a sweeping balance patch that'll tweak everything and make it a very different game to what we've seen so far. From what I've seen the movement looks too fast, bipods are too easy to use and effective, the rate of fire and range on the shotguns is extreme, apparently you can also sprint while shooting SMGs now? I bet the sprint speed gets reduced.

I just can't see how all of that stuff will remain as it currently is, and let's not forget they've been making these games for a long time so it's not as if balance is a mystery, they know that players are incentivised to get in early while the balance is poor to get a ton of easy kills.

Hard to say no to any kind of free AAA game beta. I’ve played a lot of BF3, 4 and 2042 and enjoyed them all so I’m excited for this release

Sounds like COD, except without slide cancelling and YY’ing. The self proclaimed “movement king” crowd will be happy, the other 98% of players will probably hate it.

I wonder how strong aim assist will be. I didn’t play much of the two previous Battlefields but BF1 had the strongest aa I’ve ever seen.

Anyone got a beta key? I’m not preordering this game even though it looks really good
And I can’t be bothered to watch a streamer so I can get a key

I'm having trouble getting it fired up on PC because of Secure Boot. When I look at System Info it says it's off, but I checked the bios and it says enabled.

Edit: In the bios I had to change secure boot mode from standard to custom and do a factory reset, now it works. Apparently Gigabyte motherboards are a bit finicky from what I've seen online.

I had to enable it too, As I didn't play any 2042. It was simple enough. I don't know why people have been complaining so much about it. Going even as far as review bombing 2042.

Yeah it was literally my first time going to the bios and changing anything. It wasn’t so bad. If this is what it takes to deter people from using cheat software and scripts then so be it.

Call of Duty is also going to require it to be enabled. Lots of people are pissed about that too.

I wouldn’t mind, but getting Secure Boot working on an Asus motherboard (ROG Strix 8760-F) was a massive pain in the arse
But I got it working
Thank god most modern Operating Systems are formatted to use GUID Partition Tables by default because I’m not going to try and convert an MBR into a GPT out of fear of completely breaking something important
Now we wait for tomorrow. It’s been a while since I last played Battlefield, but I’m excited

Had a couple of hours on the beta.

The maps are quite small which was hard to get used to after 2042 but from ehat I played i like it.

Having the destruction back makes such a difference. Can get so chaotic in the middle flag with tanks, infantry and the buildings falling apart all around you.

Proper battlefield stuff, looking great so far just want to try out the bigger maps to see how it plays on them.

I’m in a queue to connect to the servers. Currently #111529 💀

I enjoyed it, it felt a lot like BF4 which I sunk thousands of hours into. Their map choices didn't do the game justice though, they should have had one big map in the rotation, Liberation Peak still felt small.

One thing I didn't like was it felt like I was ALWAYS spotted and/or on the mini map for everyone to see, it made flanking the other team pretty hard. I didn't get a chance to use a suppressor much though to be fair.

I also don't remember the bullet spread being this extreme during bf4. Tap firing has always been a thing with assault rifles but the spread is huge if you go full auto, it gets even worse if you're suppressed. Even the smg I used felt more accurate at the same ranges. I would rather have more recoil than this much bullet spread.

Overall it was pretty good first impression, Activision should be worried because Bf6 is about to eat their lunch.

So I wasn't just imagining that with the default 433... I suspect they did this so that the Match Trigger mod (and fire mode selection) both have justifiable use cases for proper ranged combat. My major gripe so far is the shotgun feels a little ineffective - as if they purposefully clamped down the range so you can't use it beyond arm's reach.
