Dry Tarmak
Any of you guys tried it out?

Demo was released this weekend. Its a little hard to get used to at first because the controls are a little complex and you have to learn them "all over again" for each vehicle you use, but then it gets really interesting.

Having the possibility of commanding BattleCruisers, small cruisers or speedboats as well as Submarines is very cool. Then you can command plane carriers or airfields allowing you to send off Dive Bombers, torpedo planes as well as fighters to combat anything "else" on the map.

Of course, you can pilot individual planes as well as all the boats. It took me a good hour to "get it right" and then i was off. I'm loving it so far, the battles are fierce and long... a good Multiplayer engagement will last as much as 1 hour of intense strategy and combat.

The demo is good for 8 players (4vs4) which is enough, especially since you can control up to 3 things at once... or if you play by yourself, you can control "everything"... which is a bit overwhelming at first, but you can get used to it.

anyhow, loving it so far, though i'd share my appreciation.

Note: One thing that would top this game (being some kind of Large-Scale RTS with a few units) would be to have the same game.... IN SPACE... BattleCruisers, StarDestroyers, Fighter ships and what's not... space stations... that'd be awesome.

I saw a couple videos of this and wasnt sure what to think of it. Since there is a demo I might have to check it out. If its an RTS or a lot like an RTS I will probably like it.

yeah its basically the same idea of a RTS, but you can control each units manually or let the computer "do its best" which ain't so bad. If i'm honest.

There's nothing like controlling a Battlecruiser and blowing the **** out of everything out of the water. Oh YeahHh!

I am going to have my gf download it for me since I am at work. I will try it some late tonight. It will probably be my only chance until the weekend.
I need to get 400 more points in COD3 ranked games so I can sell that crappy game. Also the crackdown demo is supposed to be coming out I think tomorow tuesday 23rd. That game will be sick

off-topic
Yes. I have been looking forward to crackdown for a very long time. For those that dont know it is basically a Grand theft auto type of game BUT the entire game is co-op!! Thats right you can play the entire game over xboxlive with a friend. I cant wait!!:) Even the demo is co-op. There is a Crackdown thread and if this sounds interresting you should check it out.

No points when the computer takes control and does it all.

I do enjoy this game quite a bit I have to admit, the teamwork and gameplay involved is prolonged but doesn't feel like it. A game can take anywhere from 15 (if against people that know nothing) to an average of about 45-60mins when you have a good squad with you and communicate well.

I played the demo.

One of the worst games ever.

Dumb controls + last-gen graphics + very little action + takes forever to do anything = :yuck:

Blazing Angels is, like, a AAA games compared to this.

LOL

Well i'll agree that we disagree ;)

Played some more tonight and its terrific. Lots of action with good players actually, planes crashing everywhere and stuff, great!

I think it takes some getting used to with this game. I didn't find the controls and all too bad, it's just getting to know what to do and how to do it. I was bored after 10 minutes, though, and the match lasted 30 minutes until the host quit... I think all I did successfully was drop a bomb on a ship. Who knows whether it was Japanese or American.

I played this game last night against my girlfriend. It is actually a pretty fun game and we played 2 games against each other. The first game I beat her the 2nd game she took out my ships that produce planes. She found how to send torpedos and just destroyed me. After that I was pretty much screwed and actually bored since all I had left were a few smaller ships. The planes are the most fun. I really liked the bombers. Felt very rewarding droping a bomb then watching her screen to see if I hit her ship. lol I dont think its a game I would buy but I might still play the demo once in a while for the heck of it. Graphics are just ok.

Graphics are actually impressive when you consider what's happening on screen plus the draw distance, the full game will have dynamic weather and also upto 100 units at once on screen. The detail on the shpips and planes and the sounds are pretty sharp also, those that hate or dislike this game usually can't play it or don't ask for help from others or strangely enough don't check out the controls to see what to do.

Also I mentioned this to CB, hold the RT down when releasing a bomb or torpedo to watch it hit it's target, the AI will take over your plane so don't worry about it crashing. Also when selecting player slot and you're not sure what you will have at your disposal press right on the d-pad and it will show what you get to command in that slot.

You can also assign fighters to assist or protect your bombers or even just fly around the airfields/carriers to protect against incoming bombers or as stated first use them to protect your bombers from a bunch of enemy fighters when they are on a bombing/torpedo run.

You can do the same with ships also, assign a ship to another via the map, press X select formation and choose follow and select the distance and you're all set to cause some serious damage.

Pressing down submerges a sub, pressing up brings it up, there are 3 depth levels but watch your oxygen bar, when it's getting low rise to the top and replenish. Also your sub has 2 rear torpedo bays so when you fire off your torpedoes from the front, dive under the vessel and shoot with another 2 as you pass through.

Enjoy !

Oh yeah Giving Units is done via the map, select a unit with the cross hair (can't give the unit you are currently in), press in the left (or right?) stick and select the players name from the list. :)

Thanks for the tips and information. Oh I will have to remember that the next time I play. That would be awesome to actually watch the bomb slam right into the ship. :)

it is awesome LOL

Does the "right thumbstick" function work with Boat Artillery as well? i'd love to follow a volley all the way to the enemy mouahahah

I think he said right trigger not right thumbstick.

I tried playing this again last night. This time against people besides my girlfriend. I join this room and when the game starts I specifically say I am new to the game and I can leave if they dont want me there. They seem ok with it. Well the game starts and its 4 Japanese teams against 2 american teams. Unfortunately I am on the American team and I have no idea what to do since I dont have the boats that put out planes. So I start putting boats out of a dock. Seconds later my team mate leaves. Yes now its 4 against me. I didnt have a chance and honestly I had no idea how to use the boats.
I will be willing to join some of you over the weekend if you want. I think this could be a fun game with the right group of people that will at least make even teams or at least communicate.

WOw Camaro, seems like you have real bad luck with this game.

I gotta buy myself a new GOLD membership today. If i have time to play, i'll try to catch you online.
