Played it briefly, the game is just a little to, trippy in it's nature and it doesn't make alot of sense. It is essentially Devil May Cry on many levels, which is kind of random and OTT enough, but it's all gone a bit mad and the line will well and truly be crossed for many with it's crazy music and downright random bosses and such.

That's only half the story though, although the game is shamelessly targeted at males (see opening sequences), the story seems meh, the cutscenes meh, the character very meh and you don't relate to her at all but there is one big saving grace.

Gameplay, try the demo and if you like the combat you'll probably enjoy the game because thats what it boils down to. The combat is fluid, and a nice learning curve allowing you to practice in the loading screens as well which is a nice touch. It doesn't take long before you can throw down some big combos on lesser enemies with little effort but it's not TO easy. For those into this kind of game it's a nice purchase but it's no God of War for me and as someone who's not a big fan of the genre, I wouldn't pay full price.

DMC4 has it's own problems, one major of which being it's basically the same half of the game twice just as a different character. The levels are a near identical re-run which makes it feel cheap. If you like the style of Bayonetta and enjoy the gameplay, go for it, if you don't mind the style and gameplay is first, go for it. It does play alot like DMC once you get over the different visual approaches but I suspect you get a better overall package with Bayonetta. If you have a PS3 capable of running PS2 games however, I suggest trying DMC3 which I prefered to 4 despite the shiney visuals or if you really want God of War, why not get the God of War Collection?

Bayonetta is by no means bad, it was enjoyable as a game, play in quick bursts and leave it, but is it's gameplay massively better then something like Devil May Cry? I don't really think so, but some people do like Bayonetta despite disliking DMC (maybe it's the hot chick?). The thing I find with these high paced major over the top hack and slash type games is that I don't want to pay full price due to the length which is why I seek older and cheaper versions because they are all often very similar. Dodge/block then counter and attack. Someone who's more into them may be able to offer better advice but as I said, it's not bad and if you really liked the demo go for it, try the DMC4 demo as well for the hell of it and see what kind of prices you can find for both.

I've downloaded DMC4 demo but haven't played yet. I also actually just traded COD4:MW for Uncharted 2 (which I haven't played yet either lol), so maybe I should save a few bucks and just play that (and MW2 of course) till GOW comes out.

Still, Bayonetta will be a buy for sure when I can get it used.

This is my usual logic, because the games have no multiplayer I avoid full price purchases for most single player games, only exceptions are those which I particularly like ALOT, such as Assassins Creed 2 as I like almost everything about the setting, the premise and the gameplay isn't half bad either.

Got it on rental now... played last night - it's quite a good laugh - although the explanations on what to do are a bit lacking - found myself running around a lot doing nothing a few times...

And tonight I have to download an update to play it - guh!

I've played the demo many many times now and think I made up my mind to get it.

yeti - ya downloading updates sucks... I got Motorstorm Pacific Rift for Xmas (boo) and because it's an older gane it needed a 1.6 gig (or something like that) update!

The Update allows you to install some game data to your HDD...

I suggest you do it - it takes a while - but makes things a lot better...

I've played the first 1 1/2 levels through - good laugh so far - got MAG today though - so this might take a back seat for a while!
