The Beatles song "Across the Universe" is to be broadcast into space at 12 AM GMT (7 PM EST) towards The North Star (Polaris), and Beatles fans are asked to play the song starting at 12 GMT to celebrate.

I know nobody cares, but nothing's gonna change my world.

From,
Chris.

(Yes, in 5 mins)

Just imagine what the aliens are going to think.

We've been broadcasting stuff into space forever, and we ain't got nothin' back yet. I don't think they use radios anymore.

The Arecibo message was sent 25 years ago, but it still has about 25,000 light years to go before it hits it's target.

I read somewhere that this one won't reach until 2132 or so, I'd probably be gone by then, being born in last century and all :p

Couldn't they have picked a better song? I mean, sure, the Beatles are awesome and it is a decent track... But why not something with a bit more of a kick to it? Or better yet, just make it one of Paul's songs; Live and Let Die FTW!

FTW indeed.

But it might be a bit confusing to them. I'll be elitist and say we're the most musically advanced race in the universe.

I must say they most definitely could have picked a better Beatles song. I just wasted 20 minutes trying to download this song only to find out it sucked.

Better idea:

Launch that horrible "Across the Universe" movie into the starts so we don't have to watch it...

All the abduct is rednecks so I can't imagine they have a great sense of what our planet is like .

Just as long as no politicians get snatched:scared:. A lawyer might not be too great. They'd probably wonder how we ever make a point.

 That was one acid trip of a movie. That'll leave a good impression.

Ha ha, nicely done ;)

Enough with the John Lennon jokes already :p

Probably be gone by then...?! In any case, it won't reach Polaris until 2439, by which point even the Rolling Stones will have finally given up.

Couldn't they have picked a better song?
Definitely - "Interstellar Overdrive" by Pink Floyd would have been alot cooler...

Who's idea was it to make Paul 'effing' McCartney as Earth's Ambassador for Music.

Damn near any other Beatles song would have been good. Although I do agree with you, that song and a slew of other Pink Floyd songs would have been a great choice.

Screw that. Princes of the Universe by Queen. We'll show 'em who's boss. ;)

****ing in heaven by Fat Boy Slim could've worked too
or
You Never Met A Mother****er Quite Like Me by Kid Rock - Show them alien assholes who's king of the universe!
