If you want the game to be about the spirit of close competiton, relying on your skills as a driver and tuner, then that's perfectly fine. On the other hand, if you'd rather the game were about winning alone, then that's fine too. You paid your money for that copy sitting in your PS2 right now, you're entitled to do whatever you want with it.
On the other hand, this argument does remind me of the heyday of GT2, when I'd often see people who complained along the lines of:
"man this gaem is so ******* boring i used my gamesharrk 2 hack teh escudo and give it 40000 hp and beet all the races with it in 3 days this gaem sux ridge racer is teh best cause you can hit stuff and not slow down!!!!!!!!!!!"
(You have no idea how much it makes my head hurt typing like that.)
Those are the only kind of people I can't stand, the ones who hook the game up to a GameShark the moment the take it out of the box and cheat their whole way through it. What's the point of paying 30, 40, 50 bucks for a game if you're not even going to bother trying to play it the right way first?
