Being a TRUE GT3 racer......

Hmmmmm......... To become a true GT3 racer, you gotta have the right car for a series race, not just cheating with your F1 cars, I know you guys think they're pretty crap but there is a reason why they are in the game. How is my advice? More reasonable? :)

I am getting annoyed/disapointed at the amount of members that post here, who cheat in GT3. It really bugs me.

I hope they realise that that are ruining the whole experience of the game by using overpowered cars.

Why? It's not like it directly affects you.

I agree the racing experience is better when the cars are more evenly matched, but I'm surprised at your strong feeling about it.

Well, I'll admit I used an F1 to get through a lot of Pro level races and enduros purely to get to 100% (and maybe win some nice cars), but since completing the game I've been re-running the race in much more evenly matched machinery.

I know it doesn't affect me in any way (or whatever you said), but it worries me to think of how many people are lazy/would take the easy way out.

I've said it once and I'll say it again if you can enter the car into the race it's not technically cheating? :argue:

I will admit :gt: 2's Bhp restrictions worked well :speedlmt: .... and the F1 Cars should really have only been for the F1 Championship...

Though I admit too that I used F1 in most Pro Races :burnout:

Ya, my take on the whole thing is, bottom line, it's still a game. I play it to have some fun. To escape the reality of every day life. Personally, I've got a vehicle that would love nothing more than go sideways every time I turn it, yet, I hold back from doing that. And, there's plenty of times that I'm driving around and there's some jackass driving 6 inches from my drivers door and I'd love to just hammer him off the road. But, that being real life, it's frowned on.

In a game? There are no judges.

I hope they realise that that are ruining the whole experience of the game by using overpowered cars.
:rotfl: Oh wow - that brought back a flashback of when I was still in school and my mom would lecture me.
If you cheat on a test, you are only cheating yourself out of an education
<whisper> Ummm mom, I make more money than you </whisper> :D

The way I've always felt about it is that GT is what you want it to be.

If you want the game to be about the spirit of close competiton, relying on your skills as a driver and tuner, then that's perfectly fine. On the other hand, if you'd rather the game were about winning alone, then that's fine too. You paid your money for that copy sitting in your PS2 right now, you're entitled to do whatever you want with it.

On the other hand, this argument does remind me of the heyday of GT2, when I'd often see people who complained along the lines of:

"man this gaem is so ******* boring i used my gamesharrk 2 hack teh escudo and give it 40000 hp and beet all the races with it in 3 days this gaem sux ridge racer is teh best cause you can hit stuff and not slow down!!!!!!!!!!!"

(You have no idea how much it makes my head hurt typing like that.)

Those are the only kind of people I can't stand, the ones who hook the game up to a GameShark the moment the take it out of the box and cheat their whole way through it. What's the point of paying 30, 40, 50 bucks for a game if you're not even going to bother trying to play it the right way first?

I'm close to the 75% mark now and have yet to WIN an F1. My first two trips through the game, I did abuse the rules of entering an F1 in any race I could. This trip through has had a muche more rewarding experience, matching the cars to the race.

Having seen Mustang_man's stats and skills I would see why he states his thoughts. However there is always room form politeness.

take a look at the Trial Mtn. Enduro thread. How many people suggested a car that would slaughter the the competition? I managed it in an untuned Lancer. A great race.

Many of you voice thoughts very similar to my own.

Well, put on your halo and cape and off you go.

He he.

Delray, that last bit is the funniest thing I've read in more than a week! Congratulations on making me look like a lunatic in front of the office crowd...

I agree that the game is what you make it. But as I said above, there's cheating and then there's cheating. Like a friend of mine who races three-dimensional cars once said: "The last thing in the world I want is an unfair advantage. But, mind you, I'll take every fair advantage I can get!"

Welcome Delray, as I haven't seen you before. :) You look like you'll make an excellent contribution to the GTP community, both in your racing skills and ability to post sentences that show proper grammar usage.

And, I certainly agree with you on your point. Most of the time, I want to rely on my "mass skillz" to win the race. Other times, I just want to swipe out my F688, enter the Super Speedway race in the Sunday Cup, and bunt the Mini Cooper half a lap just to see the thing smoke and spin. I call it "stress relief".

Totally agree with you there

Why do people find it necersary to use :USA: Gameshark or Pal X-Port? I met a guy who put 0000's of bhp in a :vw: Lupo from his cheat card :rscared:... What's the 🤬 point?

If an expert doesnt want to waste time driving a non modded GT1 car through amateur mode, its not cheating, its just wise. Some say I cheated by using the GT1 road car in the 2 hour trial mountain enduro, but its just that I didnt want to race a boring normal car for 2 hours when I KNOW i will still win the race

me thinks

Well, for one thing, games like GT3 get boring after a while when you've won every race a couple times and perfected a lot of the cars. Especially since it is basically a new, pretty version of GT2. After a short time, it goes up on the shelf, never to return most likely.

UNLESS you've got a gameshark or equivalent.

Now the game has new life. You can race people online with hybrids, instead of the same old cars you've grown sick of. Want a Hennessey Viper Venom 800TT? Slap on the right turbocharger and a better suspension and tires and there you go. Each hybrid is a totally new car, unlike any other car, and the really good ones take tons of skill to create. And all the hybrid pros know, you don't need 40,000 hp to go fast. 1500 will usually do just fine.

But, if you have to use a hybrid because you can't win otherwise, you need much more practice. That's a bad as using a F1 to win everything, or using the Escudo to win things in GT2.

If you must use hybrids to race, why not fix up a slow little car like the Vitz to compete with the F1s?

There's nothing wrong with hybrids themselves, just how some people use them.

see..i used f1 cars through all the game. I used them because..it didnt say u cant use f1 cars (well insome races u couldnt) but now that im almost done (except time trial which i havent got 1 1st place in) im goin back and gettin the cars that i havent gotten (like cars that arent in the car dealerships screen)

I think its ok to go back and get some cars you didnt get the first time out but I think I went throught the hole game the first time without using or should I say abusing my F1 power. But everyone does what ever he or she wants to do with the game, hey you paid for it.

I went and did the Trial Mountain enduro with a untuned Mazda Rx7 Type RZ and blew everyone, including the NSX Type S Zero, away. He pitted every 10 laps, and i managed to pit every 20 laps. Easy money.

I'm gonna try it in some other car one day.
Maybe a stock Honda Civic Type R. Or a stock Skyline GTS-t..............now thats got me thinking. *evil laugh*

I want to use a car where i know i have no hope in winning.
I just want to know what the other drivers feel like when they have to put up with my exhast fumes all race.

My definition of a true GT3 racer would be... someone who enjoys the game.

For me that now means keeping my car inline with the others in the race, doing the races in order of license (by League) so I don't get great cars or too much money too fast, demanding 100% wins and 100% golds before moving on from any step of the game. Those sorts of things... heh.

For others, it could be hybrids and F1's in the Beginner's MR race. As long as they have fun, I can't fault them as a true GT3 racer. I don't want to play that way and they likely don't want to play mine and that's fine, so long as we're both having fun.

The things in this thread that have been said are all quite valid points. I remember when I got my Japanese copy of GT and I didnt have a clue about cars (It took me a week to figure out how to do the first licence I CANT READ JAPANESE DUDE!) I only drove cars with 800+ hp and I thought all the other cars were rubbish. When I got GT2 I was the guy going to my friends "THERE ARE MORE THAN 400 CARS IN THIS GAME AND YOU ONLY USE THE ESCUDO AND THE 400r YOU SPOIL THE GAME". Now I have GT3 and im on the verge of getting GTC I dont bother commenting. Most of the people who only use the fastest car all the time to win the game are usually around the age 11 to 16 (no offence meant to anyone who did this and they`re like 30 years old. Your a fully grown adult you have other more important things to do ;) ) . I have frequently used overpowered cars for races when I cant be bothered, but on the other hand I have 4 F1`s all with 0 miles on the clock. Oh by the way the best car to punt a mini with is an aston martin v8 vantage fully tuned apart from weight reduction, that the car is about as heavy as a......................really heavy thing :D

To become a true GT3 racer
How would you know about being a true racer? People can play the game the way they want to!!! I aggree that people who use gameshark or anyother cheating device need help. Whats the point of racing if u can get anything with a gameshark.

All valid points. Funny, I dont even have a formula car yet so I have to race as closely to the competition as possible. Its white knuckle time when the competition is close. ;)
I usually pick a car that will do fine and usually go into the qualifying mode to see how it fares with the comp. Since the qualifying mode belies the fact that the actual race will be closer than the qualifying laps, it actually has you believing your faster and gets things pretty close on the final lap. Most cars are within 2-10 seconds of me and sometimes more.
This is how I race and really dont want to be branded a gt3 racer or whatever.
Racing in real life has taught me to bring what you brung and let see how we do.
Ive never owned a game shark or any other device to enhance my cars and who knows, maybe Im missing something. :D ;)
Anyway, its all good and everything in this thread is valid.
Just have fun with it and who really cares? :) ;)

I used the rubber band trick a few times and found that to take alot of fun outta the game and i used to use alot of F1 cars and that helped but i saved over my game(i felt very stupid) and im not using them this time ill have but will try not to use as to get the full effect of the game 😈
