On 30th September 2008 a new unofficial Sportscar variant of the Land Rover was announced. Projected to cost £80,000 this vehicle is based on a lwb Land Rover 109 using a V16 engine. Modification include removing the top and revamping the interior to include an aluminium finish and leather seats. The open-top “off-roadster” will be available to buy in black, Sahara cream or in British racing green. When produced for public use it will be available with either a V8, V12 or V16 engine.

it seems they will take the driver section back to the rear seats to accommodate the engine choices, which could be a boring-done-before rover v8, to more interesting choices from a 750hp 27l v12 Meteor tank engine, a 1500hp supercharged v12 27l Merlin aircraft engine or custom made 8 or 10l v16! thankfully with all round disc brakes, although they do seem a bit foolish keeping a ladder frame leaf sprung chassis, would have been much better with a coil sprung range rover piece :dunce:
dont see much practical use for one but if you got the money and the balls itll be more interesting than being another cookie cut exotic owner!

well the parabolic springs are a plus, though they are probably more to take the greater weight than for more travel. im sure it will no doubt be as good as any other land rover off road just a bit faster :p the v8 one anyway, but noone would spend that much for just a v8, plus it can be done much cheaper

They should have done this with a Range Rover Sport and not an old Land Rover... would look so much better.

Robin.
