I think I'll be seeing it, I loved studying Beowulf while at Oxford (I actually got to see a very old manuscript of it). I hope they don't do anything stupid with the story though like so many filmmakers do.

I read the story quite a long time ago, I believe while in Middle School, but never got around to reading it again. Needless to say, it has held my interest, and should the IMAX be carrying it here in Grand Rapids, I may try to see it that way...

We will be checking it out tonight around 8:00pm. There was also a 3d version but we arent interrested in that.

I watched a trailer to this last night, it reminded me of a cut scene from a console game.

I hear there is a new trailer for Cloverfield at the beginning of the movie that shows a lot more of whats going on, and that alone, may be worth seeing...

My brother may want to see it, studying Beowulf and all, but that is about it. However, in agreement, it does look like an excellent movie, provoking the question: is the book all that better than the movie?

We went and saw the non 3d version Friday. It was an ok movie but definetly not as good at all as I expected it would be. The part that amazed me the most was the first time Angelina Jolie came up out of the water. It seriously looked EXACTLY like her. :dunce: Other than that it was just ok.

Yeah, me too. What's the craic with that? Is it "live-action" or CGI?

Yes it's full CGI. It's similar to how the cut-scenes in Heavenly Sword were done; actors "act" and a recorded digitally and then CG skins are added and it's all put together.
Interesting to see how much of a change there has been since Final Fantasy: Spirits Within.

I went and saw Beowulf 3D around midnight Saturday and...if it weren't for the 3D it would have been a waste of money. What they do to the story is so painfully Hollywood.

I saw Beowolf yesterday, and some of it was kinda boring on reflection, but there were also some redeeming factors(Angelina Jolie covered in just liquid gold, yes please).

The CG was impressive, and there were times during some slower, close up scenes where it looked very real.

Don't think I'll ever pay to see it again, or buy it when its DVD released.
