I've tried all the JGTC cars, including the C-West Silvia and the Autobacs MR-S (Stage 1 turbos on the latter two), but nothing seems to make for a good race against the JGTC cars.

Any suggestions on cars that won't slaughter the AI, yet won't have me finishing in 6th in each race? (Cars can be tuned or not tuned, I'm open to suggestions.)

Have you tried maybe a 350 Z tuned moderately ? ? ? Focus on handling and see what it can do

What level? Because the JGTC cars get a huge artificial boost in Amateur level (and a huge penalty in brains), but this effect is reduced in Pro.

In Pro All-Japan GT, I ran the stock Oreca Viper on T3s, with one pit stop. This made for some cruises early on, but as power fell, it got tougher. I won, but did not sweep the series. It was fun, though.

In Amateur level, I ran a stock Raybrig NSX on T2s and did not pit. This led to victories in the 4-6 second range.

I raced the Amateur All-Japan series with the C-West Silvia (Stage 1 turbo, ~400hp) but it still wasn't as close as I'd liked it to be.

I had a few good tussels with the C5R in the Amateur World Champs, but won 8 of 10 races anyhow (3rd at Test Course, and unplgged the controller at SSR11, a good 20-second delay).

I raced the Oreca in the Pro World Champs, and it was close at times, too dominant in most races, though. Killed the Pro-All-Japan series with a Raybrig plus an oil change.

Hmmm, maybe the 350Z or a lightly-tuned RGT sounds like a good idea.

Well, I had a rather good race in easy arcade mode with a Clio Sport Road Car against, well, the top guy was a Raybrig NSX, that's all I remember. I won by a good 4 seconds, though I slowed down some to let them catch up.

I've never really raced it in Simulation Mode, but I probably will now that you brought this idea to me... Also, try a modestly tuned Clio Sport Race Car. Should be fun... I really enjoy the handling of a slower race car that handles well.

On a side note, I raced the Seattle Enduro last night and got the Panoz Esperante. It was the car I was trying to get, and when I got it I was massively surprised with a whopping 1008 HP and 247 mph at the Test Course. And then I went to Midfield. It handled very poorly for a race car, probably the worst I know of besides the XJ220 Race Car, and I was immensly dissappointed. I know neon_duke enjoys this car, as I've heard him say about how enjoyable it was on the Laguna Seca Enduro, but neon_duke, did you adjust the tuning before you did it? Because if you didn't then I don't see how you stood 60 laps of understeer-o-rama. This is my opinion, though, and I don't dislike the Esperante, I just would have expected more for 2,000,000 bucks. If you know what I mean.

I did some minor suspension adjustments - off the top of my head, probably 3.0 camber in front, +0.5 toe/-1.0 toe, and stiffer rear suspension. Not much, only 2 or 3 laps trial.

WOW! That really makes the difference. It makes me want to say, "Whatzawootal!" extremely loud. Thanks neon_duke, you helped me out big-time on this one. Now the Panoz is definitely one of the most fun to drive race cars in the game. I went to the run and setting 20 minutes ago and I got so into it I did a good 15 laps! Thanks again, I owe you one. :D

Hey, that's what we're all here for. I'm glad it worked for you! I got my handheld out and looked up the real settings I used. This is just the first pass; I've never gone back and really sorted the car out all the way.

Spring: 17.4/15.2
Ride: 70/74
Bound: 7/7 <~room for adjustment here
Rebound: 7/7 <~ ditto
Camber: 3.0/1.0
Toe: +0.5/-1.0
Swaybars: 4/4
Brakes: 15/15
DF: 0.85/1.08

I used the Altezza LM, with a moderately tuned turbo. You win by a couple of seconds, but it is a pretty good race. Watch your tires though.

Mmmkay..... I'll do that after I finish winning some dough from everyone's favorite series race!

EUROPEAN CHAMIONSHIP!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D

EDIT: You'll never guess what car I'm using...

EDIT EDIT: Darn, now I forgot it...

Oh man. This is wonderful. Thanks again, neon_duke. Your settings have saved me lots of time. Literally. I'm really not that great of a racer, and was surprised to find that only on my 3rd test lap at Midfield I ran a 1'04.579, beating everything else that I had in the records. (To give you an idea, it was over 50 different cars, including a F687/s, which had a 1'04.938, but I really didn't try with it, so it wasn't a good time.) Great stuff, neon_duke, and if you don't have that in the "Settings" forum, you should definitely post them. These are wonderful settingss.

Well, I have to say that these settings are great for understeering (race) cars. So far I've only used these for two cars: the Panoz Esperante and the XJ220 Race Car. Well, I just now tried these settings on the XJ220 Race Car, and I found that it is simply amazing how much of a difference it made. I made a few adjustments; I bumped the downforce all the way up on both sides and kept the brakes at 9/9 (did the same with the Panoz Esperante). These settings brought my time down at Midfield from a 1'07.552 to a 1'05.775. Not too bad. But, considering the XJ220, with its 5 gears and 953 HP (not saying that that's bad), this time was astounding! Need I say it? Yes, I think so. Thanks again for all of your help!

The best competition I ever had was the Professional League JGTC with the Pennzoil Nismo , with no turbo and hard tyres. That way, you only have to pit once, but you lose some much time whilst the tyres are cold, that it becomes a real challenge to win..... Typically, you cannot afford to make a single mistake in the whole race, and still win by under 10 seconds (if you're lucky)! Needless to say the championship went to the wire...

Same here.

I use a little bit of traction-control and ASC though, to control tire-wear.

My 2nd choice is the Denso Supra, but comparing the Denso to teh Raybrig is like apple & oranges since the Denso has a chit-load of low-end tourqe (and eats tires if you're not carefull), whereas the Raybrig (and all NSX's, for that matter) have an absolutely KILLER top-end.

Dude I can do almost 1 flat in an R34 V-Spec (not V-Spec II), you need some practise no offence. Personally I love to drive the Impreza LM.

I'm sure you could! But I have other things to do besides this... :D

How long did it take you to get that time? How many laps? Because I usually race around 2 and then just quit and go race against other cars. I don't really try to get that great a time. I'll pick up a R34 V-Spec tonight (I only have V-Spec II) and give it a shot and tell you what I get. Probably pretty bad, but I might as well try to compare to someone and see just how slow I am!

Did you use it with different settings?

Is there some reason you're being so obnoxious about this? Because it's not particularly polite to tell people they are fat or ugly or slow. And just saying "no offense" doesn't make it not offensive.

jamxx took it with grace, but that's definitely to his credit, not to yours. So knock it off, punk, unless I see you consistently in the first tier of the weekly series. And even then you could stand to take a lesson from the really fast guys, most of whom are extremely modest except around each other.

I find the way to get the most challenge out of these races is to use an equivalent tuned road car. I used a 470bhp Z06, with T3's, a 450bhp Griffith 500 also with T3's and an NA Ruf RGT with a simmilar level of bhp. That was for amateur, in pro I used a stock Raybrig with t2's, it was stock or it had the level one na upgrade. This was the same with the Opel Astra Touring car. Although I can't remember if I used those cars stock or not, seeing as it's been months since i've played GT3. Come to think of it, I remember wiping the floor with a stock Gillet vertigo in the pro one, man that car is awesome.

Off topic, but hey - If you're going to force the Times Roman font, then you need to force the size up a notch. Your posts are almost unreadably small.

Found a goodie; the Viper_Concept (oops, I mean Viper Concept GTS-R). Racing the Amateur Series with no mods but an oil change and the supplied Medium tires made for close competition, thanks to the naturally-supplied understeer and tall-as-a-Sequoia gear ratios.

I won all but two races (Medium tires last just about 4-5 laps) but finishes/gaps were from 0.250-2.5 seconds in every race. That's close racing.
