HI experts,

I've got a maxed out '63 corvette stingray (the classic with the hinged headlights, divided rear window and great shape, a fave from my GT2 days...) for the above race & there's an awfully quick cobra that thrashes me in the nurburgring race. I've read about the body refresh, would this help? have I picked an awfully wrong car & would be better off with the Ginetta? I even get the dreaded "1 point" message at the start so thought this would be a cinch, but my setup must be crap I guess.

Ta guys and gals.

Well, not many replies (none yet!!), so I fiddled around and got there...

Kept re-entering the championship until I didn't have any pesky (and expensive) Cobras competing against me, instead copped a massive Buick Special 62, kept blowing my doors off (in Aussie speak).

So, bought one for just under 60k, maxed out to over 900kw (supercharger the best value), then entered the first race. My 'yank tank' was against:

Mercedes 300SL;
Alfas - Guilias and Spiders;AND
Nissan Silvia 65 (a little out of its league!)

What a collection of Euro buzz boxes, my approx. 900kw, 1100kg beast almost lapped them by the second lap. This looks like a good find this car, very forgiving handling around the sweepers at 220kph and it easily exceeded 330kph on average straights. Hmm, 7m43s on Nurburgring without really trying too hard & 340kph on straights, can't wait for the F1s if theyre faster than this baby.

You may not be lucky enough to get the sorry collection of opponents I received, if not, keep reentering the championship until you get them

I'm a Lazy bugger without much time, so no trying 50 times in a 300 point race for me.

I got lucky when I entered about the 10th time and neither the Buick, nor the Cobra or the AC showed. I was running the 1600 Alfa Guilia ('67) with upgrades and I spanked the competition.

Being a coward, I waited until the Cobra nor the Buick didn't show in the lineup then raced with the Nissan Skyline 1970 ( a prize car ).
But I want to do it again and win at least against the Buick.

Biased "coward" turkey

Are you talking about the Nurburgring classic car race? That was the last one I did last night before bed, and won by about 6 seconds in a Ginetta first time I tried (including a massive spin). I don't remember the other cars except for a 2CV(!), but I don't recall any Cobras or Buicks in the race.

I'm not sure of the Ginetta or the Suzuki Cappuccino ('91) is my favourite car so far. I thought I'd like the more powerful cars, but these little ones are so much fun. The Suzuki handles so well, so that probably gets the nod...

If you do laguna seca endurance you get gt40 '69. I reckon this is the best car if you want to humiliate that cobra or buick. I won all gold first time, suck eggs to the cobra that struggled through the series behind me! LOL
:) foghorn_100 pal ver No b-spec for me!

Many of you say that you avoided the AC Cobra because it was too fast.
I bought it (though expensive) and won it hands down, (partly because another AC didn't turn up, but that might be because I was one)
It can also be used for the Europe Classic car and 1000 miles!, so is well worth buying, and you can make a profit. :)
You can save a lot of time by not having to re-enter

WagonR you should pay more attention to the dates of posts, the last before yours was April 17th 2005, i doubt these people will still be at the same point by now.

Just some friendly advice Welcome to GTP :)
