Rather rip out my eyes!!
Hi guys.
I have not long started to get the weakened force feed back in my G25 due to over heated motors.
I currently have the top off the G25 so the motors are exposed and I have a PC power supply fan cooling one and a mini fan from an old broken PS2 held in position with some stiff wire.
Now the PC power supply fan is really powerful it keep the left motor really cool and the mini fan from the PS2 is good for its size its only 7cm but after a while the FFB drops off on that side.

I have since tried all manner of fans and I cant seem to find one that can provide me with the cooling I need.
So could any one recommend a fan that is around about 7 to 10cm in size runs off a 12v but is quite powerful, but at the same time does not cost stupid money.

Thanks.

This fan pushes 119cfm, it is a pc fan but I have good reason behind this(it will be noisy since it's 56db at 12v). You use this power supply to power it.

The other option to power the fan is to rig a usb wire to the fan. This will limit the fan to 5v and ultimately cut the speed and noise in half(the reason why I recommend the fan). You can follow this video on how to wire the fan to usb.

Thanks mate, I have my 2 fans running off a USB.
The mini fan is using the PS3 to power from but the Desk Top power supply fan is powered by a USB lead plugged into a TOM TOM charging plug.
I did not realise that the volts would drop to 5v with the USB lead so my mini could have more to give with the full 12v power supply.

Those fans look like they will do the trick nicely, Do you know of any power supply's that have a duel port so I could run 2 fans off one power supply ?.
As if I can run 2 of those fans off one supply that would be perfect.

As for the noise I don't mind much about that and I could just fit a power controller to the fan so I could get the balance between noise and fan speed just right.

Thanks for the help mate.

Just get one of these and attach it to the power supply. The power supply puts out two amps and two fans of the vantec take two amps. I honestly would just try one of the fans and see if you need the extra fan. I know these fans myself. I own a 80mm and I can feel air being pushed away 2 feet at 12v.

That fan will be the only fan you need. You also won't be able to hear anything running it at the full 12V  I can't recommend that fan if you just want something plug and play. Honestly, for cooling your FFB if you place the fan properly you would do fine with almost any PC fan (80mm to 120mm in size). Just get one from a quality company ... Panasonic, Panaflo, Vantec, Antec and Delta are the heavy hitters in terms of fans. There are other good companies too but those are the ones I always have and always will recommend.

Just look at the noise level and decide what you want to get. You will need to decide how loud is too loud, depending on how loud you play your games or whether you use headphones or speakers.
<20dB you wouldn't hear
20-25dB is very quiet and might be barely audible
25dB-30dB is quiet and might be audible (since you are sitting close)
30dB-40dB will be audible
40dB+ is loud

These are just generalizations of course, not exact, but they are good rules to go by when buying fans. Especially when not all manufacturers take their readings the same way.

Which is reason why I suggested wiring up usb to the Vantec fan. At 5V the Vantec would be pushing 50-60cfm and making 20-30db of noise. I think pushing air out at the top would be the best option.

I like the idea of those fans as soon I plan to extend the wheel out with a pole so I can hide the rest of the g25 inside my cockpit so only the wheel shows.
So these powerfull fans will do the trick as my G25 will be inside a wooden box so that should dampen the sound no end and ontop of that I can get a hold of some sound profing pads I could line the box with.

But for now I am wondering if I could incoperate a speed control system into the fans so I could slow them down and dampen the noise.
I don't know much about PC'S but I can get my head around simple wiring and things so I am going to have a read up on fan rpm controllers tomorrow.

thanks for the help guys.
