Okay folks, I apologize for having to re-do the vote. Simply put, the Audi A4 just didn't belong in that grouping, and the voting for the other cars was far too close for comfort. With nine votes on the Mondeo, ten for the Accord, ten for the Commodore, and eleven for the Legacy... It simply is too close.

So, please vote again. I'd also appreciate it if you would explain your vote, just a sentence or two. It helps those who aren't certain of what they should pick, and makes for a better debate.

I'm giving the re-vote three days, and make sure you vote in the hot-hatch thread too.

Me? I'm still voting Commodore. While I continue to realize that we do not have the car in North America yet, it will be here before the end of next year. The large, "American" size and shape make it a winner in style alone, add in European driving dynamics and American power, and you've got a clear winner here. Pricing is great, and there are plenty of models to make everyone happy.

Why not make it the best sedan? Well RWD doesn't appeal to everyone. But with opinions changing nearly everywhere, it will be worth it in the long run for "sporty" models, etc.

I go with Commodore. With GM about to introduce it in the North American market, it may be the lifesaver. Plus it has proven itself to be very popular in Australia.

I went with the Legacy for the same reason as last time: its a relatively good handling, fun and nicely styled and designed car.

...You know guys, the only way your cars win is if you vote...

Well, there should be a statistical significance in the difference for it to count as a win.

Voted for the Accord, by the way... utterly boring base car, but the Euro R is nice and keen... there are faster versions of the other cars, but then, you can make anything fast...

I'm sticking with my vote for the US Accord. It's the quality every magazine talks about, the refined engine, the space, even the driving dynamics. Sure, the Scooby is faster with it's big torque and safer with its AWD. The Mondeo probably handles better than the Honda. The Commodore surely is bigger and has more room for stuff in the back and in the cabin. But the Subie is smaller than the Accord, and lacks the refinement in every way, including the suspension. The Mondeo is just Ford bland, but really is a nice car. It comes in a close second for me. The Commodore is big, ugly, and I just don't like it. It's a GM. I can't see it being more comfortable than the Honda, though I have no personal experience riding in it. I'm just really impressed with the Accords I've ridden in and driven. They're perfect for me.

Mondeo for me, its a great blend of comfort and ride quality with excellent handling characteristics. Plenty of room and an excellent standard kit provide value for money and with the ST versions you get a lot of fun as well.

The only downside is the slightly bland looks of the car, but this is hardy a market segment filled with bold looking cars.

Regards

Scaff

Mondeo again, just the best all round family car in the poll.

Same reasons, and nicely put. 👍

I'm gonna have to vote for the Commodore, its big, its RWD, and Its gonna save GM. 'Nuff Sed.

while im hesitant to vote for the commodore because its an unknown quantity, of that lot it certainly has the most "fun factor" being RWD and as for the other mundane stuff that makes a family sedan a family sedan, they are all relatively good. i can safely say there are NO losers in that lot.

so commodore for me

Mondeo for me.

On the basis that old and new cars are good quality runners.

The old models are a great answer to anyone seeking a cheap affordable saloon. The news ones are great motorway cruisers and great fun cars in ST giuse.

...I'm still sad that we don't have the Mondeo here in the US. Not that I really would miss the old one (again, the last one we had here disappeared around 2000-ish), but the newer model sounds like a good buy, and the next-gen model looks awesome.

But even then, the Fusion isn't too bad either. Sure, it is a dressed-up Mazda 6 with blue-ovals all over, but it is a fairly "Americanized" model that has turned out right; American highway driveability, European-inspired handling, Japanese-level quality.

Maybe except for the Gillette grilles. I like the car too, although I really don't see why Ford won't bring the European products over here. If they truly care, then anything's possible.

...And the Commodore takes it. Yay for Zeta power! We're only a short time away from seeing these cars in America, and to be honest, I wouldn't be too surprised if GM gets the "itch" to send a few to Europe as well.

On to the Hot-Hatch thread!
