Since the Best MOTORing International forums is dead I thought it might be a good idea to start a new thread here. Please note that this will only be for discussing BM as sharing videos aren't allowed. I recently ordered a few BM DVD's from Japan and am also currently busy with a BM website so it will be good to have others here to talk to.

there is also a thread over at racingflix.com. i enjoy the videos most of the time.

I'm currently updating BM Station. At the moment I have over 60 Best MOTORing VHS tapes from as early as 1988 and my plan is to eventually put all the test and battle data with screencaps on the website. It's a long process but hopefully it will give BM fans an idea of how the videos was back then.

I really like Best Motoring, but I really wish some of the races were longer. Too often, the results are based purely on mistakes/incidents instead of car performance.

Best MOTORing rules!

I have to agree with you...it's quite annoying :grumpy:

I really enjoy Best Mortoring, haven't watched one for ages though.

Seems great, good job.

Did anyone went to see American Touge 3? I heard people say that it wasn't good as the previous one.

I recieved some BM DVD's from Japan yesterday including two of the Racing History DVD's. It's got some really fascinating archive and race footage from the 1960's and 70's.

wow, great site I been waiting for website like this dedicated to bestmotoring. I'm mostly interested in the circuit times of the different cars (standard/tuned) there was on www.tuningpt.com but that sadly it doesn't exist anymore.
great job

Just a little heads-up, BM Station has been updated with a few minor changes and new video data has been uploaded, all from 1998. The old video data is currently removed but will be back soon. Hope you all like it!

Oh yes, and if anyone spots a mistake, please PM me to let me know.

I was just looking at the new updates, and I noticed sommeting not right. In the april edition the integra type r (M. Kurusawa) gets a time of 1.09.96 in the time attack and a time of 1.06.16 in the battle lap. That doesn't sound right, for the rest great job

Yeah, that 1'06.16 should have been a 1'09.16. It's been corrected now. Thanks for letting me know.

I must say, although BM episodes are fun to watch, they're extremely biased. They basically choose the winner beforehand, and give that car the best driver could even be staged from what I've seen. I've seen car taking turns FAR better than the others on the track, when there shouldn't be that much of a difference. Too many people are starting to learn this about BM. It's like Top Gear, enjoy the show, but take it all with a grain of salt.

top gear is much lessed biased when it comes to car testing :p

best motoring is ridiculous sometimes

Best Motoring is the best. No one else quite does it like those Japanesse :)

Anyone see the best motoring Drift Bible? Quality. The drift king really is the best and he manages to get anything sideways!

Good luck with the website.

Aww, I thought you were going to have a bunch of videos posted on your site. I'm most interested in watching the drivers do their thing, instead of the results. Oh well.

Also, BM can be very biased at times. It's still fin to watch real racing, and see the skill that the drivers have. I'm more interested in the driving aspect, and not just the result. I love watching the guys do what they do best, and that's drive the hell out of cars.

ANd Troux, Top Gear can be biased, especially Clarkson. But the bias is there because the show is neck-deep in sarcasm. The sarcasm is pretty obvious, I think, and hilarious. I think the Stig does a decent job of driving all cars equally, though.

Unfortunately I am not allowed to share the videos due to copyright issues though I have uploaded a few short clips onto YouTube wich might not remain there for long. The last thing I need is to be taken to court. :scared:

I'm the same as you, I love watching great footage of road racing, and it's interesting to watch the vast differences in driver skill. As for Top Gear, sometimes they try to make sarcastic humor of their bias, but it's usually very unfair comparisons. For instance, the fact that they'll compare wet and dry track conditions as if they were the same (in Stig tests), and I don't know if you've seen The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly, Clarkson's trip to America, but it's damn near yellow journalism some of the stuff he says in there.

Sorry to hijack the thread. :P

Top Gear is entertainment first and foremost. Anyone who doesn't realize this shouldn't be watching it.

Second, anyone who can't "see through" the sarcasm and such to get to the real information in each review hasn't been watching Top Gear long enough. Once you're familiar with the personalities of each presenter, you'll know very well what to pay attention to and what to ignore (or enjoy a laugh at).

As for Best Motoring, I honestly believe the bias in driving-skill differences could be reduced if the length of the races was increased, allowing drivers to recover from mistakes more easily.

One of my favorite battles are when they race Na cars Vs. Turbo cars. But how old is BM anyway?

2007 is BM's 20th year. Here is the very first BM video...

The MID4-II was basically a design prototype to showcase Nissans' technological abilities. The MID4 was first unveiled at the Frankfurt Auto Show in 1985 and the MID4-II at the 1987 Tokyo Motor Show. The name MID-4 comes from the fact that the car was mid-engined and had four-wheel-drive. The engine in the MID4 was basically the same engine that would later be used in the 300ZX released in 1989. Other aspects in the MID4 would also make its way to production such as the four-wheel-steer system that would later evolve into the HICAS system also used on the 300ZX among other Nissans and also the four-wheel-drive system that would later find its way in the Skyline GT-R in the form of the ATESSA system.

Always liked the AE86 N2 races. Sorta brings back a little Gr. A Touring Car action.

Great job Hiroke on the website. It's very nice.

The picture of "Gan-San", Nakaya, and Tsuchiya brought back some good memories.
