Best online off-road racing game?

Hi all, I once was an avid online gamer (through dirt 3) but have been out of the gaming world for a few years now. I'm about to revisit online racing but am unsure which game to focus on. I prefer online racing exclusively and I'm wondering which game of the dirt series currently draws the most online players and if there are any other recommended off-road games that have good multiplayer racing. I'm not sure what platform you're on or what part of the game you prefer, but going off of Steam numbers Dirt Rally 2.0 easily has the most players followed by Dirt 4 and the first Dirt Rally (even Dirt 3 gets more love than Dirt 5 amongst the PC crowd at least).
