Hello all,

I'm running a 2 hours race at Daytona road course this saturday.

I'd appreciate any suggestion on which is a good racecar and tuning to go at this regulations of 630hp and 1300kg?

Regarding tune, should I go for full downforce to reduce tire wear for this long race?

Thank you!

I've tested some cars with default setup.

Ford GT LM Spec II - 1:38.0
Audi R8 LMS racecar - 1:41.0
Corvette ZR1 - 1:39.8
Citroen GT racecar - 1:39.6

Any other suggestions?

I chose the Audi because it didn't require ballast, if you're going to slap on 200kg of ballast, than it opens the options. I simply used mygranturismo and sorted the cars by weight.

I would go for Mazda 787B, very fast take off and good breaks with easy cornering. Good Luck.

Team Oreca Viper would fit in there nicely if it makes weight. I think the Ford GT is tough to beat though. There was a F.I.T.T. Shooutout recently in this sort of category and there were two Ford GT entries by MotorCtyHamilton and ACSR421 and the tunes were absolutely brilliant with near effortless driving required. You cannot go wrong with either one. Keep in mind they were tuned to a given PP so have lower downforce than maximum so depending on your regs they may be used as is or need adjustment.

Here's the generic link to the Shootout: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=269088

Whether to use full downforce to reduce tire wear depends on a number of factors but mostly how long the race is and whether the increased downforce gives you enough help to eliminate a pitstop. If you are going to need a pitstop no matter what downforce you use, then choose the fastest setup possible and go from there. Always easy to slow a bit with your quickest setup than it is to race at maximum with a slower set up.
