Hey guys,
I'm thinking about to buy a wheel + racing rig for gt5.
Read/viewed some reviews of both the last days but now I'm more confused than before.

At the moment I think the playseat + g27 would be a good choice.

What would you suggest?

budget is no "real" problem. But I don't want to spend 5K Euros

space could be a problem at the moment. Our living room is not so big, but we're moving in april next year in a bigger apartment. So I was also thinking to buy a premium wheel and only a wheelstand at first.

What I want is a combination that works. I don't want a wheel which can hardly mounted on the wheelstand/rig. And even more I do not want a wheel which has some real problems with gt5.

It's way out of my range, but the Rennsport cockpit looks pretty sick, and it's ready to mount to Fantatec or Logitech wheels (with adapters.)

The GamePOD GT2 that the SRT guys use looks pretty good as well.

I can't speak to other cockpits because I've only used a playseat Evo. But, the playseat Evo has been a great product for me. I've used it with a G25 and now Fanatec GT2/CSP setup and I really have no complaints. I would suggest a seat slider kit if your going to have multiple users of different heights and the Buttkicker Gamer 2.

If money/space were no object I would probably pick up a Rennsport Cockpit from Fanatec. Maybe someday lol.

For wheel+pedals you have two options: either Fanatec GT2 + Club Sport Pedals (~$500) or Logitech G27 / DFGT + ECCI pedals (~$650-1000). The Fanatec GT2 and Logitech DFGT both have perfect compatibility with GT5. The G27 has issues.

The goal here is to get a solid wheel, and all three are solid wheels, and pair that wheel with good pedals. Good pedals are hard to find; Logitech's are pretty poor, Fanatec's "CSP"s are said to be top notch. The upcoming Thrustmaster T500RS are rumored to be poor as well, unfortunately. Fortunately, ECCI makes a pedal kit which is compatible with Logitech wheels - but it's pricey, about $550 for just the pedals. Either way, you have options - Fanatec wheel + Fanatec pedal, or Logitech wheel + ECCI pedal.

I personally use a wheel stand instead of full cockpit, to save space. I have the Wheel Stand Pro, and can't recommend it highly enough. The Fanatec Wheel Stand is also considered very good by users. Both fold away with ease. I bought a folding race chair to accompany the stand, which means that I get a full cockpit which folds down easily and weighs maybe 20kg total.

You can get into a very nice setup for a quite reasonable amount of money, it's a nice hobby.

Hey guy, thx for your comments! 👍

I just ordered the fanatec gt2 + wheelstand. And a new pair of shoes for my girlfriend :D Hopefully she's fine with that ;)

When we've moved in the bigger apartment I'll maybe buy a full rig like the RennSport Cockpit. That looks really fine
