Hi All,
I bought a G27 not too long ago and I am still having troubles getting the "sweet spot" setting with the wheel. What should my wheel settings be at and what normal settings for cars should be on or off? Like ABS, TCS, Skid, and all the rest. I want to be competitive in the Academy.

Thanks,
Shane

I turn all assist off and keep ABS at 1. Think my force feedback is set at 7 or 8. Good luck 👍

In the main options - main wheel settings: i use Simulation and FFB at 5. Don´t know if it is the best because the best for me maybe is not the best for you. And i use to rally in gravel so i use 5 just to not "damage" my wheel and for not to hear the noise of the wheel itself.
I am used to 5...it feels natural more like a real car. (my car at least)

The rest off, only ABS 1, manual transmission and the grip set to real.

Yeah, I used to have it at around 8 or so, then I tried my hand at an X2010...
It's been at about 2 or 3 ever since, and, I became accustomed to it, I think it offers more feel (on my G25, that is, which is at least similar).

I haven't touched the settings in the Academy yet, which might explain my initial "fish out of water" impression...

I can't get the clutch to work for the life of me either. Not that I've really needed it so far in these two rounds, but it's frustrating that it isn't working. Anyone else figure this out?

:odd: You just have to push the clutch in all the way (or close to all the way) to get it to work.

I use feedback setting 10, found it scary at first then just got used to it. A lot more fun in my opinion :)

I thought they disabled the clutch on these types of events. I haven't tried it yet w/ my G25, but usually for all out speed it's paddle shifters anyway.

As others have said, no assists except abs at 1.

Force feedback is preference, but less is generally better. I use 5, but I might experiment with lower. The reason has to do with force scaling. The G25/27 can only output so much force. If you set it too high, you're going to miss some subtle effects as they will be scaled up to be the same force as the stronger ones since the stronger ones will be scaled past the capabilities of the wheel.

Also, too high a setting will force you to use too strong a grip on the wheel which will reduce your precision.

Thanks, I had it at 7, but I'll try a lower setting to see if it's better. I golded all the events already but I can always work in my times!

10 is fun, but as mentioned it does ''drown out'' some of the more subtle Force Feedback effects. 5 or 6 is a great place to start.

Can anyone tell me if there are any differences between the Amateur, Professional and Simulation modes? Im aiming at the fastest settings, not the most realistic. Its a competition after all :D

I've got DFGT, i'm looking for settings to allow me to drive faster than DS3..any ideas?

No difference for G25/G27 for sure.

I'd say don't touch the clutch and just bang the gears on the shifter. Much faster than the paddles in my experience.

I get side to side swinging on my g27 wheel when i am going at speed, or doing rally races.

is that normal?

What do you mean? If you are going at speed or rallying there will be quite a bit of feedback. You can't expect the wheel to sit dead center

Even at low speeds ~ 60mph the wheel will swing right and left when i let go, it never corrects.

And when i am in neutral rolling backwards its the same thing.

^^ Turn down FF to 5 and chech it. Rolling backwards it's supposed to do that.

I'm at ffb 3, might try 2. ABS at 1, everything else off. The g27 cant produce all that much force before it gets inaccurate...more or less.

It happens with the Logitech wheels. The problem lies with the game itself. Turning down force feedback certainly helps, but after a while you really don't notice it (Except in an X2010/11 - that thing is crazy!).

During rally the surface is uneven so I would expect the wheel to unsettle constantly anyway.

EDIT: Though in GTAcademy there shouldn't really be any problems. The Leaf and the Silvia are relatively easy to handle, and i'm not sure what car is used for the third round, but i'm sure that's relatively easy too.

When I first got my wheel I had FF set high. But after talking to some of the faster drivers I found out most of them used much lower settings.... 1 or 2. Tried this myself and although it felt a bit odd at first having less resistance to work against, I found I was almost immediately faster in most cars. With less feedback you're much more able to make the tiny & sensitive steering inputs needed to be fast.

Scooty what steering sensitivity are you using? I've been using 4 myself with 5 ffb

I use FFB 10, and simulation steering (If that has any impact though). I did briefly try lower settings, I found the more feedback you use, the easier it is to be consistent with car allignment and braking, because you have a more of a feel for the cars dead zone.

You have flip reversed you old mantra
I used to use FFB 10, its alot more fun, feels more.. real, and accurate.

But being the terrible driver I am.
Making many corrections is tedious with the wheel so stiff. :scared::scared:

FFB on 10 is a heck of a lot more force than I've ever felt thought my miata's power rack (or any other car I've driven), so I don't know about it feeling 'real'. 3 feels much closer to me, more subtle, but still plenty of information.
