Whether you love this game, or simply find it frustrating, it seems that one thing most people can agree on is that the engine sounds in Shift are really, really good. In fact, just speaking for myself here, I haven't seen a car yet in Shift which doesn't have at least a good-sounding engine. Since there's also a similar thread for GT5P, I thought it might be good to start one for the Shift Forum as well. I didn't create a poll because I'm too lazy :p So, which cars get your vote for the "Best Engine Sound" Award?

My votes, in no particular order: Zonda F & R, McLaren F1, Porsche GT3RS
 
The STI has a pretty good sound to it. I'm impressed.

Believe it or not, aside from the distant hum it almost sounds exactly like that.

As for my vote, I'd honestly give it to the CCX. It's the first game I've played that actually gets the engine note (and the god rumble) right, right behind it is the Zonda F and the...R8 LMS. :drool:
 
I have to give great respect to the Veyron as well.

Cycle through the RPMs and take in the grunt and listen in for the turbo valves at about 6400RPM. 👍
 
The CCX is an absolute beast.

V8 Vantage isn't bad sounding either
 
I'm only on Tier 2, but the first car I went to when I got to T2 was the GT500 Mustang. During the loading screen, I was PRAYING that they put the sound of the supercharger in there...and they did :D :D :D. LOVE it!

Just wish they'd add turbo sound when you add a turbo on cars.

The spool valve discharge is there, if you can't hear it do a free run time trial and mess around with the camera and keep revving until you hear the valve flutter. 👍

Works Murcielago. I've driven every car in the game and nothing sounds as good as the Works Murc, IMO.
 
Have not gotten very far, but so far the Ford GT sounds real good! Love the sound of the supercharger spooling up!!👍:drool:
 
The Gallardo sounds pretty sweet too...I'm still at tier 3, haven't been playing it much lately
 
The 2000GTR is bloody frantic for such a small car, it's enough to make you wanna rip your ears off!

I think the BMW M Coupe is the worst sounding, it's sounds like a Nissan V6 which isn't necessarily bad but way off what a BMW L6 sounds like.
 
Full works R35 sounds pretty awesome.
 
Works/M3 E46 sounds really good as well... 701 HP and I made the gears long so you get a bit of turbo lag which feels really cool... Once the turbo is finished spooling the wheels will spin if youre in 1st or 2nd... Great FUN when blasting around the Ring! 👍
 
Not to bring back an ancient topic, but the works Viper sounds incredible!! Where did they get the sounds for it?! I've never heard an V10 idle like that!
