For the Poll, I've finally decided to go for the 911. It is still going very strong today after many, many years. I probably would have voted for the older Beetle alone, but today's "modern" version has destroyed that vote because it's quite simply useless apart from its girly looks (for girls of course).
As for a Sweedish car, the Volvo 240 GLT does it for me. It may have been heavy and slow, but it was safe and very large so you could transport masses of stuff around. I wouldn't be surprised if you could live in it!
For the Australian car I vote the Monaro. As far as I know this is one of the first cars from Australia that has been liked and well-known all over the world because of its driving ability and price for that type of car.
Well I was going to nominate the Sigma. But some credibility needs to remain in this thread
A couple of honorable mentions as well.
Ford Laser TX3 Turbo
Commodore VL Turbo
*Australia's 'Bang For You Buck' and Backwards Hat Brigade King. This one has 280RWHP and is $7000 (~5000USD)
Probably not a legal entry. But Mazda Australia got hold of the MX5, and bolted a Turbo and a Front Mount Cooler onto it. I believe we are the only country to have the MX5 SP.
157kw (210HP) from the Dealer.
The Holden Commodore VL SS Group A "Walkinshaw" (And yes, this is the factory body kit...)
The Ralliart Magna at the time quicker than a Falcom XR6 VCT, XR8, HSV XU6.
