Today I recently picked Shift Unleashed 2 from my local BlockBuster to try out for a week. I am using a controller, not a wheel, but I will get one in the near future. My question is simple, what should I do to start off the game. Is there anything I should remember?

Also, I would like to (once I start off) race with fellow GTP members. So add me. crispychicken49

1. Take your time.
2. Setups (controller config, car tuning, even paint/liveries) take a while to get right.
3. Carry a towel with you because the racing will make you sweat!

Ill add you. And ask as many questions as you need!

If you care about trophies and you didnt win the first race with the GT-R, erase your save game and try again.

Also be prepared to get seriously addicted to autolog. :D

Don't waste your time on getting fast cars. The game behaves much better when you drive slower cars :)

Yeah, right now my favorite car is the MX-5. Its just so zippy. I can brake a lot later than others too.

One thing you don't have to worry about is your car purchase selection. Spend your money as you please, if you don't like it just sell it for what you paid - including upgrades!

And as others have said, give it time! All good things come to those who wait. Once you get your controller/wheel dialed in and the cars tuned you will uncover a very indepth "racing" experience.

Pretty sad when we are going around telling others not to race the fast cars in this racing game, because of the issues that arise from doing so.

I wish they would fix this game so that we can get on with playing it. As of now i feel its pointless even trying, because of the random freezing ive experienced.

You bought the game and DLC's then posted on here for help... many took their time to assist you but now you just slam the game in your own posts (another thread also). You have every right to do so but please be fair.
Believe it or not, MANY get hours of racing from S2U without any major issues. I myself would buy again even knowing the bugs as I bought at the release date and have had more fun with this than any other racing game I own.
With that said, I have been posting on NoGrip and here in an attempt to get SMS to take notice and fix the problems. That doesnt' mean S2U is trash!
Also, accornding the IanBell over at SMS, the reports of S2U problems on the PS3 console is "miniscule" (his words) - that can be debated but may be true.

To be fair, I haven't experienced a freeze since the first week of release. And the only bug I've seen is the one where the car faces 180* at the start. And a simple restart of the race straightens that bug out.

But I'd be pretty frustrated if the game was constantly glitching out...

Hey bmwisme

I am being fair with this game i feel. I still own it and have not traded it in. I do see the potential in this game, hence my hanging onto it. After my inital rant post, ive took the help offered and change some settings, which in turn made me able to actually drive the cars. Since then ive had freezes pretty much everytime i try to play it. I posted on here about that as well.

Im just hanging around in hope they get a patch to solve the issues. I really dont feel ive been unfair at all. How i see it is, that if they had actually tested the game prior to release, we all would not be on here posting about the short comings of this game.

I am a customer of a product, and i have the right to complain as you rightly posted about. Until it gets fixed (if it every will that is) its pointless (to me) to go racing knowing it may crash at anytime.

If it wasnt so random it would make it a heck of a lot easier. If i knew a certain car would cause the game to freeze, then offcourse i could just avoid that and get on with enjoying this game.

Thing is though, is that the freezing really does seem random. So id rather not play it for now until its fixed. Im glad you and others are able to still enjoy this buggy game. Me?, nah. The issues out weigh the enjoyment so far.

Fingers crossed for a fix and soon.

There were not freezes until the patch. So your claim of it should have been tested before shipped is off. Also the high speed lag is usually only on high PI cars. How far into the career are you??

Also I find it odd that you purchase a game, purchase the DLC's, then come asking for help, and get all raged at the bugs. Usually, the way to avoid frustration is to read about a game first. Reviews, forums, etc. Then purchase the game, and play it. Enjoying it so far? Grab some DLC.

If you would have done that, maybe you would not feel as mad.

If thats the case, then how come i get freezing even though im only about 10% into the career?. Is the game more screwed than your experiencing maybe?. I did read some reviews before getting the game, and nowhere did they mention about the random freezing, and steering issues from the get go.

When i purchase a game i always go and get any available DLC's and install prior to playing for the first time. My way of doing things has served me well over the past year or so. Ive purchased 35 games in that time, and this is the only game that freezes up on me. Coincidence??.........i think not.

Yes, you have every right to complain... as I have. If you are having that many problems maybe there is an issue with your PS3 - only because many have been able to play (many hours) much of the game. I play it almost daily and don't have any problems. Once in a great while I have had a freeze but I can avoid that if necessary. This is "me", I am sure you (and others) may play the game differently than I.
This post was from a new S2U gamer and I don't want him to think there is no joy to be had. There are other threads that surely point out S2U's issues.

EDIT: I am up to 25% career and have not had any problems. It was only when I "works" a car and ran on Nordshliefe that I had a freeze. Again, very strange that you are having issues at that point in your career.

If you did not read ANYTHING about input lag, I really dont know what you were reading. And yes, I am one of the few lucky ones that dont get many freezes at all. So far I have had 1 high speed freeze (78% career with both dlcs). And this new guy might be as lucky as I am....

I was just giving advice. You buy how you want. Personaly I will research before I buy, and play the game a bit before I fork over money for DLC. It just seems more logical, and saves me from getting frustrated.

There really isnt any issues with my 160gb slim PS3.

I was playing TDU2 for about 3 hours and GT5 for about 2 last night, and not once did my PS3 freeze up. Like ive said before the only issue i have is with S2U. Call it weird, call it BS, i dont care.

Its an issue ive got, and until its fixed i wont enjoy the game. Im glad you and others are able to enjoy this game. I guess everyone has a different outlook. Ive always been a "the glass is half empty" kinda guy. Been that way for 38 years, and i dont see that changing anytime soon.
