I went out looking for a new TV today at two locatios, Fry's and Best Buy. I will say that their were some very nice TVs out there, and I want the best picture to enjoy my new Casino Royale on Blu Ray! :D

Money is a BIG thing here, and Best Buy has some very good deals for LED TV's now. I have a couple TV's that I like. With both Pro's and Con's for each.

Sony Bravia 32" Class LED-LCD HDTV

There are a couple of con's about this TV. First off, its the 32" size. All the other larger ones were 3D TV's, and with 3D TV being fairly new, there could be problems that surface up. Another thing is that my parents own a Sony TV, which had a VERY bad problem that eventually led to a class action lawsuit against Sony from hundreds of people.

A couple of good things however is the price, $675 for an LED TV is pretty good, considering most of the others that size were $100-200 more. Also, a lot of people on GTPlanet own this TV, so it is easier to ask for help on this TV.

Vizio E3D420VX

Samsung UN40C5000QF LED-LCD 1080p

This has the most important con out of all, price. Its the same TV as the Toshiba and Sony, LED-LCD 1080p. This time its a 40", like the Toshiba. Unlike the Toshiba, however, is that it is $350 more, which is the cost of a Fanatec 911 GT3 RS, AKA a lot.

Seeing this in the store though, makes it a great TV to own, thats why its the last on my list. Still though, the picture is only slightly better than the Toshiba.

So now its you're turns to help me decide what TV I should use to complete my home entertainment center for Blu Rays, and games!

Comparing TV's next to each other in a store is a terrible way to shop. Best Buy, and presumably others, likes to make their more expensive sets look better than the cheaper sets to influence people that don't research before they buy.

It would be amiss if I didn't suggest a Vizio. :D For your price range, I suggest taking a look at a E3D420VX. The reviews on Amazon look good and the price from Walmart are better than Amazon's for once.

$700 for a 32"? My suggestion would be to drive down to FRYs and pick up a 60" DLP for $600, but I'm not sure what your space constraints are. Actually, just drive down to FRYs and see what they have.
As TB said, stores tend to run HD signal to more expensive TVs or whatever they need off their shelves, while running SD signal to everything else.

I don't think it's even that. More along the lines of calibrating higher priced sets and cranking up the backlight to make them look "better".

I know first hand, of a handful of best buys in my area that run composite cables to some TVs while running hdmi or component to others.

Yeah, although weirdly, the cheapest one (Toshiba) looked just about as good as the most expensive one. (Samsung)

We went down their, I just posted links to them online. But sadly, I would have taken up a 60" for $300, but all of them were about $2,000.

My friend has that TV and I absolutly LOVE it! The only problem for me is the price. I am going to add some Bose sound systems to my room, so its going to put a large dent out of that. I am welcome to some more suggestions though too!

It's the same price as the much smaller Sony and not that much more than the Toshiba, hence why I chose that one as opposed to one like this. If you have a maximum price, it would be a good idea to let us know what that is before we randomly start throwing more suggestions out. ;)

Just found out the Toshiba has bad Sound, will look into the Vizio! One thing I want to know is if I can watch TV with it, without the need of 3D.

From the manual, under "Watching Blu-ray 3D Content":
The TV displays, “3D Content detected. Select YES to switch to 3D, NO to display in 2D.” Highlight Yes and press OK.
and under "Changing the 3D Mode":
If viewing 2D content, highlight 2D and press OK. The menu closes.

If viewing 3D content, highlight 3D and press OK. Go to step 4.
So yes, it can be turned off. Also note that the set comes with a pair of 3D glasses, so it would certainly be worth trying out. 👍

Edit: I've added the Vizio to your poll.

Alright, thanks TB! I'll defenantly look into this TV. I suspect you own this TV also? If so, have you had any problems with it?

I suspect you own this TV also?
I currently own 3 Vizios (a 22" and 32" LCD and a 50" plasma) but not this particular model, a co-worker bought a XVT3D554SV a few weeks ago, another co-worker has a 42" and my parents have had a 32" for a few years, all with no issues at all.

I should really start collecting finders fees from Vizio for all the people I suggest them to.
