The world-first convertible version of the million-dollar Maybach 57 limousine is the brainchild of coach builder Genaddi Design Group, which uses a modified version of the Mercedes-Benz CLK soft folding roof.

The convertible conversion costs $209,000 but that's after you've bought the car, which in Australia costs about $1 million.

Genaddi says it used computer aided design to overcome the significant engineering challenges in keeping the body rigid after peeling off the roof and then removing the structural support.

Most car manufacturers shy from building four-door convertibles because rigidity is far more difficult - and costly - to achieve than with a two-door version.

Just in case having one of the only convertible Maybachs around isn't exclusive enough, Genaddi says it has many other options available for an "additional investment".

I love it I want one so bad.

the people in the back most likely will be pummled by the air at an decent speed.

It looks ok, just not sure if you'd ever take the top down unless you're in a parade. :)

Ford GT Convertible > That absurd crap.

That's only American modified, and the new Maybach is the most absurd maker in history.

You know, you might be onto to something, but make that a S8 for me :sly:

I'd be eternally thrilled just to have the normal A8. You can ALWAYS "convert" it to an S8. 👍

I like it.

It's one in the eye for the Roller 101EX, whether people like this or not.

Maybach = disgusting excess
Maybach convertable = even more disgusting, even more excessive, yet uses less material :odd:

I think its cool only because there aren't any MODERN 4 door convertables that I know of.

There is a fine line between disgusting excess and completely practical...to me, that car just makes good common sense.

So it's more efficient? :sly:
I'd rather have an old Azure. They don't look like bloated Lincolns.

^^^you know it..
it's a valuable piece of art...

I wouldn't buy this if I had the money to piss away...I'd rather set it on fire and dance around it.

This is actually cheaper, but meh same concept.

Awesomness, reminds me of the old Lincoln Continental convertibles, from a while back. Aka, the Kennedy car.

Now thats a HUGE convertible. It'd be nice to be driven around in, but i'd hate to have it as a daily driver.

Much rather spend the money on a couple of cars then just this one. :indiff:

Best US-Made convertable? Easy! The 1976 Cadillac El Dorado convert!

It is so awesome that Boss Hog had to drive on in the Dukes of Hazzard TV show. Yeeeeeeeeee hawwwwwwwww!

Caddy XLR - best modern droptop.

That Maybach screams "MB!!" Hell, it even shares the wheels with SL65.....the Maybach looks just like a stretched previoius-generation S class in the front...

the xlr is crap

That chysler is basically a MB too and those AMG rims fitted arent standard, the photshop artist stuck them on himself.

And the Maybach 57 is the sports version of the maybach series and will outrun most things on the road today.

I'd be careful throwing around that "most things on the road today" the number of 500 horse cars that DON'T weigh 6 tons are legion nowadays.

The Chrysler 300C droptop is INFINITELY cooler because it's not absurdly excessive, it would actually get more than a couple miles per gallon, and it doesn't just look like an MB rip off, even though it's MB DNA.

You should limit that to "U.S. Coachbuilt 4 Door Drop Top" too, I'd rank the Sky higher than that crap.

Maybe, but certainly not for $70,000.

And um, you do know Maybachs are owned and sold through Mercedes-Benz dealers, right?

That 300C is AMAZING! How much is that conversion? That looks really, really good and would go well with an SRT-8's 425hp and suspension :)
