Who do you think is/are the best video game OST composer(s)?

Mine had to be Yuzo Koshiro. Even though his work on "Streets Of Rage" was great (no question), my personal favorite is his work on the "Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune" series.

Oh, and, post examples if you can :)

Rom di Prisco for the PS1 era NFS menu soundtracks.

Masahiro Andoh for Moon Over The Castle (do you expect anything else on a GT site?).

Austin Wintory for Journey.

Honorable mention to Ian Livingstone for Codemasters F1/Grid series.

"Best this" "Best that" threads don't go very well.

That aside, composers who do orchestra work win. :P If however, someone comes out with some unique stuff, they win.

Now that I think about it, Gustavo Santaolalla did the Last of Us soundtrack. He made it beforehand and let the sound engineer (or whomever) do as he pleased. There was barely any song or melody. Most of us was good ambient tracks that heightened the dark broody mood of the post-apocalyptic world.
