Welcome to the BESTesters Gallery!!

Here in the BESTesters theme gallery, we test stock cars with the stock S2 tires and Driving Aids all at ZERO!! If we have a race car, chances are the Driving Aids will be stock, and they will have R3 (Racing Medium) Tires. We take what ever car we feel like testing, run lap times and see which one is the fastest. Then, we take pictures of the car to show it off. After the pictures, we write a little report on the cars. We write an exterior over view, the Pro's, the Con's, and the overall performance of the car. We post lap time to see which car can attain the fast lap time on Deep Forest Raceway. NOTE: We do not care about your lap times on any track. These are our results, our data, and it is each individually proven. Do not flame us about your lap times. If you have a better lap time, please PM either BESTesters or one of the members from it. Most pictures you see here are and will be edited. Please comment and look for an update every day or every other day. All comments are encouraged.

DEEP FOREST TIME: 1.26.694

The Lancer VIII MR is a car a I really enjoyed driving. It's quick, responsive, and grips really well. It has a substantial amount of torque and didn't really show any real loss of power while going up steep hills. Although the car does drift a bit when the brakes are sharply applied, it's a good kind of drift, and really helps on tight corners.

This car does pretty well on dirt. It grips superbly and is very responsive. My only real complaint is that the gearing is not very good for rally. I found myself stuck between second and first gear a lot while driving it. It was one of those cases where first gear is too short, and second gear is too long. First gear was too powerful and induced lots of wheel spin, while second frequently bogged down and went to really low rpms.

On snow I thought this car performed exceptionally well. It had really good grip and accelerated really good without too much wheel spin. It was very responsive even on the most slippery surfaces, and was really easy to control. A slight tap on the brakes was enough to take this car on a smooth drift through the whole turn. The snow helped to keep the response from getting too good, so mistakes were not as noticeable and didn't have as much as an effect if I messed up or counter steered too much.

Tarmac is where the car really shined. The lancer's handling really suited the tight twisty courses. As I stated before, the car drifts a bit when the brakes are applied. On really tight or close together corners, a slight tap on the brakes was all the car needed to slide nicely around the corner, instead of under steering like most awd cars would. On really long, high-speed corners, the drifting behavior of the car can get really annoying. So what I did was just apply the brakes slowly and smoothly, and the car remained stable.

About the looks, I like it but I would prefer more curves and a lower body height, I don't really like the boxy shape of the car. The body kit helps to even it out, but the main body is still squarish. In the future, I would like to see a more curvy body, and possibly a 2-door version; I think it would be more compact, lighter and faster than a 4-door version. The carbon fiber wing adds a nice touch while improving downforce and stability, and it also weighs a lot less than a regular fiberglass or FRP wing does.

Overall I'd give this car a 8/10. Although it was really fun and fast, there were times when I wished It had just a bit more power, and at times the car would just suddenly under steer, and if that happens while you are on a mountain or some place like that then you are really screwed. It's not much of a drift car, so don't get your hopes up about making the ultimate AWD drift car. It is though, a very good car for heavy tuning. The engine is strong and can withstand high amounts of horsepower and torque, and the AWD just makes it that much sweeter.

Good stuff PB! I think Ill go buy one 👍

I like the snow shots
:)
Thanks! I'm really happy with the first shot in the snow. You should go buy one, Maybe do an update in your gallery with it.👍

Yes, you may post any requests for cars. Also, you an come up with tests for us, EX. Highest jump on seattle circuit. Just try not to flood us with requests. :)

TIME - 1.33.753

Report-

Thanks for viewing this extremely worthy thread, now lets get to it. Besides the mandatory test and time at deep forest, for week one, the BESTesters team will do something special for the first week.

Deep forest time- 1:33.753
(note that we are not interested in your time, this is purely our test results)

Vehicle Report on tarmac- This is truly a powerful and beastly truck. It accelerates very well for a truck in its class, it also handles turns quite well due to its low profile stance for 2wd. However, if you want to get the back end around, this truck can do it with a little flick and a press to the brake, you can send it sideways for an enjoyable time. The high weight of this truck means that there is considerable body-roll through a hard turn, this can sometimes cause the front tires to push if you aren’t careful. But you have to keep in mind, it is a truck. Try to enter turns wide, and throw it to the apex quick or it will push right on through to the grass(or wall!) You can get on the throttle pretty early in the turn and not have to worry about the back end going around on you. I would give this truck a 6/10 on tarmac, while it was fun to drive and you could really dive it into turns and feel it pulling good torque, it is bulky, and very soft for a sport truck.

Vehicle report on dirt- Now to the special part of this vehicle report. This truck can really be a lot of fun on dirt, though it is 2wd drive, you have no problem controlling a slide through the dirty stuff. Everyone knows you got to get the wheels spinning to go through a dirt turn nice, and it can really do it, but!, on dirt, you really start to notice how much low-end torque it does not have. It does fine up in the high rev range, but when you shift, you notice that you are not going to drift that turn, and before you know it, your front end is headed toward some orange mesh fence. But be careful to only drift when you got some revs going, or else the front tires push. You really have to get on the brakes to put it into a turn, and you cant get on the throttle as quick as with the tarmac, because the front tires wont grab the dirt as mush as with some of the lighter vehicles with lower center of gravity’s. Overall though, if you are careful with the throttle and brakes, and know when not to shift, it is very powerful and enjoyable as well, I give it a 7/10 on dirt, only because of the turning on dirt, sure it is a sport truck and shouldn’t have 4wd, the least Toyota could have done is stiffen it up a bit.

Conclusion- Much more nimble and even more stiff than some of the other trucks, but could definitely be more stiff to emphasize steering responsiveness on both tarmac and rally, a very nice truck with a lot of power to aid you in the quest for fun. The truck’s cosmetics are some of the best I’ve seen on a sport truck, a very aggressive looking front end with a short and wide scoop almost equal to that of a WRX. The stance of the truck is not too low as to suggest it is small, but rather, moderately high to let you know this is not your grandfather’s truck, it is a force of steel and horsepower to be reckoned with! It also has high-set fog lamps that aren’t much of a help in the fog, but once again add to the look of un-merciful power and overall toughness. For the future of this truck, I would like to see some larger rotors go onto this truck, it lacked a little in the braking department and could afford a shorter stopping distance. Enjoy this truck by being wise and keeping the right foot light and your hands ready to turn for the apex. Until next time - 440cuda, from the BESTesters team!

And remember, comments are welcome! 👍

Nice one 440!
EDIT: Keep commenting on the last update too people. Were just trying to get this thing started off good.

BESTesters Honda Civic Type-R (EK) '98 Report:

Deep Forest Raceway Time: 1'38.295

Exterior:
Well, this won't be a big surprise to all you GTP Fanatics out there. As usual, I did something with a Civic. Now, this Civic EK9's exterior style, I enjoy. I have a Hatchback myself. The Civic Type-R goodies are nice. The spoiler is a bit too round in GT4 though. In real life, it's not as round. But it's GT4, what do you expect :) The head lamps should have been more sharper though because they look really dull, and the black, it's really weird. It could have been more darker, and less jagged where the curves meet. Overall, from 1-10 on the exterior, I would give it an eight. You thought I'd rate it higher since it's a Civic eh ;)

Pro's on the track:
Well, on the stock tires this car is very good with handling. With the Driving Aids off, it's a good thing. I have experimented with TCS Controller from 0-5. I left it at 0 because you experience understeer with 1. The suspension is set up very good stock. It's lose so you will feel body roll through out the car, but nothing bad. I'd personally increase the stabilizers by one for the front and rear. It's nice and lose so if you go into the corners, it's not like the car will start to understeer right away. You have go in with the brake, hold it lightly, and then accelerate your way out. The spring rate in the front could be raised by 1.0 and then I would personally like it better. Now from 1-10, I'd rate the suspension and handling of the car about an 8 1/2 to a 9. It's handling is great for stock, but stock just isn't enough.

Con's on the track:
The worst parts about this car is the power and torque. Now I don't mind driving a stock Civic with about 180 horsepower to the wheels, but the torque has to have higher numbers. Like I said, the handling isn't bad, the ride height is though. It should've have been lowered to reduce body roll. It's not a big deal, but the body can cause you to "drift" in the car. Now if you are going off a straight away in this car at about 80 mph, first brake when you know it's right. Then softly turn in or else if you do the opposite, it will start to drift on you. That's another reason to have TCS Control on. But once again, Driving Aids are bad :) The brakes could be upgraded a bit too. They are slow at first when you brake, and if you brake too hard, it's going to stop the car quicker. Now in conclusion, the Con's, from 1 being okay and 10 being bad, this would be a 4 in total.

http://img378.imageshack.us/my.php?image=135zu.jpg

The Conclusion:
Now in conclusion, this Civic is NOT the best FF car for Gran Turismo 4. I prefer to drive my own when the motor is put in, but for GT4, it's an okay car. I suggest for any one that is bored and wants to have fun to drive this car. The burn outs are fun in this game. Even if you don't start off with tire spin at first, it's still fun. I highly suggest this car for beginners though. Make sure you change the oil first and give it a nice car wash :D Now over all with this car, 1-10, I'd give it a 7. It's not the best Civic in the game, it's not the worst, but it's sure as a nice car ;)

thanks, and about the requests, keep the car requests about new cars, or old classics, not like a skyline or somethin, unless its a special model, I.E., a comparison of the gt-r, and the gt-r n1, or m3 vs. m3 csl. And like PB said, the special requests for jumping or drifting or incliment weather, are welcome.

You couldn't help yourself, could you, Matt?
Some great stuff 440cuda & Matt.

Well, about other ppl joinin, no. The only way you can join is if we ask you to join, so dont beg us to join in this thread. If you want, then pm us, but no begging in this thread. 👍

Great job on the reports 👍
Maybe a comparison of the old and recent Imprezas and lancers then follow it up with how each company improved their models throughout the years, and at the end state which you would prefer (Lancer or Impreza).
Seems like too much though, well, just an idea 💡

like icare if i'm even in it..... and i'm nt gonna beg... meh heh that's the thing you should say it in the first post cause then your ognna have peeps askin.

Umm...I believe they did write that in the first post. Why'd you even ask in the first place. lol. Anyways, this is a really cool Idea guys. Love the reviews. Maybe even do some competition reviews like Mustang vs. Camaro, etc.. Keep up the great work 👍

Hey don't worry about it, it'sjust that about 7 people are sharing the same username, so they see one thing, and all comment on it, thats why it seemed like everyone was making a big deal.

Nissan Skyline GT-R (R32) N1 '91

This car is of the first four-wheel-drive Skyline generation, actually the fastest version of it. The GT-R was built to fit Japanese Group A racing specifications and only hit the road because the rules demanded its street homologation. In other words, this is a race-car for the street and it should be handled as one too.

The Skyline GT-R is easy to identify from its four round tail lights, as that's what you'll be seeing (for a very short time probably) before the car vanishes into the horizon with an easily-identifiable exhaust roar. The N1 version was available in white only, but that doesn't mean the car looks dull. The clefted front spoiler, the bulged wheel housings and the rear wing serve well to make it stand out among family sedans. It might not be as good as a head turner as a Ferrari but you won't be left unnotified when driving this car.

The famous RB26DETT inline six pulls strongly all the way from the bottom to the top, with a healthy grunt accompanied by the whine of twin Garrett turbos at full boost. The engine was developed for racing use and it can be seen, it's one of the best road engines ever. The only real drawback of this car is its five-speed gearbox, the gap between the second and the third gear is too big for really fast driving.

The handling is great, the GT-R seems to be glued to the road for the most of the time. It has some lift throttle oversteer, but this can easily be corrected thanks to the excellent steering response. It also understeers a bit when on full throttle, but that shouldn't be too much of a trouble.

Time at Deep Forest: 1:28.524

+ Engine power and sound
+ The overall looks of the car
+ Handling in every aspect

- The gearbox needs refining
- Tire wear, this is a heavy car
