Does anyone have a good tip on how to exit pit road at Daytona without getting creamed by passing cars? As you know there is just a small opening at the end of pit road which forces you onto the track without any merge lane. It seems that about half the time I get creamed almost immediately as soon I exit pit road. About the only safe option that I have is to wait and stop on the end of pit road until the long line of cars passes me. (This would not be a viable option; unless if you want to end the race finishing in last place. LOL!)

The simple facts are that if there is a long line of cars who are all taking the bottom line as they pass the pit exit, then you have to wait for them to pass before you move up. Any wrecks are the fault of the driver joining the track so if you can't come up at the exit point due to traffic then your best bet is continue round on the apron until it is safe to come up onto the track. You won't lose as much time that way. Stopping and waiting is a no-no.

Also consider that pitting on your own at Daytona is a waste of time as you need multiple cars sharing the draft to have any speed at all. Driving round on your own at Daytona is slow so you either need to pit with someone or time your exit perfectly so you are well up to speed when a pack of cars catches you from behind. You can then slip into that group or drop in behind and get the draft.
