The rules are as follows:

  • Entries will accepted until 11:59pm (GMT) Wednesday 16th July
  • Each competition's voting will last for one week. The winner of that round will choose the next theme.
  • All entries must have been taken within the last 6 months and preferably after the announcement of the theme.
  • Entries must be posted as a thumbnail no larger than 700px on the longest edge. Full sized images may be as larger as you'd like.*
  • You must submit only your own photographs, do not post anyone else's work.
  • Only one photograph per person, marked with Final Entry. You can change your entry, but must remove your current entry first and clearly state that you have posted a new entry.
  • You must not vote for your own photograph when the Poll is up. Only vote for a photograph taken by another entrant.
  • The photograph must be submitted with the following information: Subject, Date and Camera used and, if you'd like, the major camera settings - shutter speed, ISO, etc.

*While full sized images may be as larger as you'd like, you should try to limit them to approximately 1200px to enable viewing the entire image without scrolling. It's much easier to see the full effect of the shot when you can view it all at once and not have to pan.

Current theme as chosen by week 49 winner, @Azuremen:
Lets go with twilight/dusk, where the light is a bit darker than golden hour.

Final Entry

July 4, 2014
Nikon D7000, 18-55 kit lens at 18mm, 1/30 at f:3.5 (shutter priority) and ISO 400

Those are some harsh shadows, for twilight/dusk.... when there's no sun in the sky......

Jus' sayin! :)

Not trying to be a jerk, I like the image, but it's kinda outside the lines, isn't it??

Just trying to participate it was the closes thing I had sorry that was recent. Theres this shot but I feel its too late at night and quite some time ago.

Go take a new one. That's kinda the idea of these things, to treat them as an assignment. I think the "last 6 months" is more to keep participation up, as saying, "OK, Go! See what you can do now," would be a little stifling. Still I usually try to find something new myself.

And there's enough light in that one to maybe get away with twilight! :)

I know for me though my free time is some what limited right now even being on here eats my break times at work. I just found this thread and wanted to try and contribute. If that picture flies then I guess I'll leave it, but from now on I won't post unless I go and shoot for the goal of the contest.

You don't have to use a new one every time, I was just saying it's the spirit of the thing, and I'm having a little fun at your expense, for which i apologize. I've looked at some of your Flickr pages and you're certainly most welcome to contribute. I'm not anybody who could say you couldn't, anyway. Not my board!! :-)

I appreciate that, I have been taking pictures for awhile, but up until recently I havent really looked into proper photography where you start really learning about all the elements and lingo. So forgive me for that, but looks like I have stepped into a area with some folks that have more experience and knowledge on the subject that I can take a lot from.

The less requirements for this threads the better. It's not like these threads are exploding with entries...
While the idea of "assignement" is nice, most of us just don't have the time at hand to go out and shoot specific stuff, especially on some themes.

Just my 2 little pennies ;)

Now my entry:

Canon 600D
16-35mm@35mm
6/7/2014(d/m/)

I will never to remember to bring my camera to work. I'm at work during this time of day. Shame cus I got a couple new pieces...

Duck Walk
Today at the local reservoir, about 8 o'clock in the evening
Canon EOS60D
f5 @ 1/1250, ISO-100

Couldn't get the look of it right shooting into the sun so I mucked around with the WB on the camera when shooting, could really tell how it worked at the time.

edit: if it's too late, sorry, ignore it... but I didn't see a poll up yet.
