My family is moving to a new house in Houston Texas. We have a big living room and a huge game room. We are planning to get some big screen TVs. I need some help to decide which TVs to purchase.

My dad is going to purchase a Toshiba 62HM195 soon. It's a very nice TV and it will go in the living room.

As far as my game room goes, right now I'm really hung up on the Sony KDS-R60XBR1. It's not plasma or LCD but it's LCOS. I believe it's basically a mix between LCD and DLP technologies. It looks amazing. It's 60 inches and rear-projection. The resolution on this TV is incredible, it's 1920 by 1080. It has a stunning 13,330:1 contrast ratio, so you really get the most out of your high-definition. If anyone has anything negative about it - please inform me. I looks for the pro and cons but most of the things i read about it, has been good.

Beside the Sony, I am also thinking about the Panasonic TH-50PX60U. Do you guys have any suggestion?

Hey there. Long time no see! :D

Personally, I would look for as many reviews as I can find on the internet. User reviews are best, but of course aren't available for brand new models.

Great picture, size are obvious requirements when purchasing a TV, but I'd also make sure that it will have plenty of input connections.

P.S. I would PM Solid Lifter. He seem to know a lot about big screens.

Yeah, been quite busy lately. :) So I see you have a Spurs avatar, I sure hope they win game 7 of the Spurs- and Mavs series. Doesn't seem like so - right now. But I still pick Detriot to win it all.

Anyways enough off-topic, indeed I do read a lot of reviews they are really helpful. I already read a handful of reviews today - I might save some for tommorow. 👍

On consumerreports.org four of the top 5 HD plasmas are Panasonic - from top to bottom - TH-50PX500U, TH-50PX50U, TH-42PX50U and TH-42PX500U. The first 2 are 50" and the other 2 are 42".

Panasonic also had the top rated ED plasma - TH-42PD50U - but that is pretty pointless, IMO.
