BIG Steam-HL2 question

Hi guys,

I bought some time back an Sapphire Ati 9600XT which had a HL2 reciept included, ok?? I mean the thing where you scratch a number, like the pre-paid phone cards.

So fine so good. And i noticed that it's already availible for download through Steam.

My question: If i download it legally (therefore using my HL2 activation number), will I be able do download it again in case i fromat my pc, or will I be able to make some kind of backup in case my downloaded HL2- version gets damaged :scared: ?

Thanx a lot and for those of you who already got the game, have fun 👍

As long as you use a Steam account that is registered for HL2 you can just download the game again free of charge.

OK Thanx a lot for the VERY fast answer, wish me luck in waiting the 3GB to be downloaded :grumpy: 👍

PS: Moderators, PLEASE delete thread :)

But it's also possible, and probably a lot easier on the internet connection, to make a backup ;)

Don't - Others may ask the same question...

Nope, If you get caught by Steam with a fake id or cd-key you'll be banned forever......at least that's what i know :) It's a very nice and polite trap, a way to stop piracy :)

Dude... Do you really think that Valve are THAT ignorant ?... Let you DL 8 gigs and NOT make it possible to make a backup ?...

Seriously Annoying Backup Linkage

after you download just back up the files so you dont need to download them again.

YOU CAN do this.
