I know its mainly focused on GT5, but I just beat the world championship on GT4 and unlocked that Car from the intro.

Overall, what do you think were the main cars in every GT game? Like the poster child cars of every game.

And in another note: What was your main car in every game? And what is your main one for GT5?
 
I would assume the X1.

At least your original GT had a car under the cover. Ours didn't even have a car on the cover. We just got a close up of tyre treads...

Yeah and the game disc smelt like burnt rubber for GT1, and for GT2 the game disc smelt like oil.
 
GT1: Castrol Supra GT
GT2: Toyota GT-One/Suzuki Escudo
GT3: F094/s
GT4: Formula GT
GT5: X1

Not judging by cover car obvously.
 
it looks like a 96 camaro to me..
 
GT1 - Can't really remember, probably a Castrol Supra
GT2 - Dodge Concept Car LM Edition - F'in great car, best in the game
GT3 - Again, don't really remember too much but probably one of the F1 cars.
GT4 - Audi R8 Race Car - Awesome car, best LM racer in the game
GT5 - At the minute probably the Ford GT LM Spec II Race Car, using it for grinding.
 
GT1: Don't know
GT2: Don't know
GT3: Suzuki Escudo, purely because it was the be-all end-all to the competition, and im very happy that they changed that with GT4.
GT4: Any Skyline. There's so many models and a lot of enthusiasts.
GT5: Yet to decide. Probably the X1 at the moment.

the ford GT was the poster child for GT4 and the SLS AMG was the poster child for GT5, but the fastest cars in GT4 and GT5 were the nonexistant cars, the nike car and the red bull X1 respectively.

(and as much as I dislike the X1, it's a thousand steps up from the nike car)
 
Best car in GT1 was the FTO LM. It was unstoppable and it was so popular, its one of the only cars to be in all 5 games now, which is saying alot considering its not even a real version of the car.

Best in GT2 was the Copperhead LM. It really wasnt fair considering how easy it was to get either. Best actually made in real life car was the GT-one.

Best in GT3 was the F094/s. Based on Senna's Williams, I think that says enough.

I really don't think that GT4 had any real standout cars, seemed most people myself included went for one of the big 5 or 6 prototype cars and stuck with them, Maybe Formula GT but I think the prototypes are a more sensible option.

GT5 would be the X1, Although the tuning is so much more effective now you can create some pretty incredible cars. I have an R8 V10 that can beat prototype cars for example, something that really wasnt possible in previous games.
 
GT1 - No idea. I've played it, but I don't own a copy.
GT2 - The Suzuki Escudo. It was the one car that everyone absolutely had to have as soon as they found out about it. A race-modified TVR Speed 12 was also pretty handy, and dead easy to win (plus, it sold for 500,000 Cr.).
GT3 - No idea. I've never played it, much less own it.
GT4 - The Formula GT was pretty nifty, but also difficult to get your hands on (not as hard as in GT5, though). The forerunners to the stealth cars, the "Black Beauties" (Mazda 787B, Nissan R390 GT1, Toyota GT-One and Nissan R92CP) were also popular.
GT5 - No doubt it's the Red Bull X1 Prototype. But I haven't played GT5, so I can't say for sure.

I think it's much easier to get in GT5, for one thing you don't have to run a 24hr endurance race to get one, neither do you need to complete the game 100% either like in GT4. In GT5 you can just blag the used car lot for a short time, or possibly trade with somebody for one.
 
Actually, it was very easy to get the Formula GT. First of all, you had to complete 25% of the game to unlock the endurance hall. At this time, you could grind on B-Spec to get you B-Spec stats up. You then had to do the following:
- Buy a Subaru Impreza and do the Boxer Spirit Trophy.
- Use the prize car, a RUF CTR "Yellow Bird" on the Schwarzwald Liga B championship.
- Use that prize car, a Mercedes 190E touring car on the DTM championship.
- Take the third prize car, a Mercedes CLK GTR Le Mans car to the Nurburgring 24 Hour race.
You'd be practically guaranteed the Formula GT provided you got a little bit of B-Spec experience the CLK GTR first. Alternatively, you could have won the Festa Italiano championship for the Alfa Romeo touring car and run it in the DTM championship for the CLK GTR.
 
GT3 was definitely all about the F1 cars which for the UK were reduced to what was to become the Formula GT.

Being a GT fan and having every version of the PS1 and PS2 GT Releases (main and interims) for all regions, including Tourist Trophy (and access to an Action Replay) I got to try all the stuff the UK (etc) missed.

Not sure about GT1, I remember that the Japanese had their Race Modded Cerbera with more insane stats than certainly the UK. I think it was ridiculously light.

The amazing FTO in the first game was that a standalone car or a race modded car... I must admit I can't remember. Needless to say its performance was "adjusted" subsequently. The FTO and Escudo were too good first time out.

To my mind the first release on a platform paves the way for the second which gets as many cars thrown at it as possible. That is maybe why I find cars from those games so much more memorable. Maybe GT5 will be the only release this generation so they tried to do everything and put too much on their "plate".

The Nissan 240 RS (road and rally versions) was one of the rarer cars in GT4. Not any easier to get in GT5.

Yeah pretty much what I would say apart from:

GT1 - Skyline R33 GT-R/Mitsubishi GTO/ Castrol Supra
GT2 - Escudo Pikes Peak/ Toyota GT-one race car / Toyota GT-one road car
GT3 - Escudo Pikes Peak / Mazda 787B / Toyota GT-one race car
GT4 - Toyota Minolta (GT4 didn't really have one that really stood out but this was the first LMP car that was given so I agree with you there.)
GT5 - X1 Prototype
 
I managed the road version but inevitably had cash issues when the Rally version appeared.
