biggest disappointment

so thruout gt3 vs. gt2 and gt1 what was your biggest let down as to how the game played or what you missed from the previous game versions?

for me i missed the full areo package from gt1.

i also hate how you have to end out of the instant replay after each race i prefer how gt1 had it as an option to view afterwards.

hopefully in future versions they eliminate this and allow for areo packages to body kits, wings, etc. to allow for individual looks to take place maybe custom color combinations and graphic design of sticker kits to copy the real cars or to be able to make your own setup.

When I was playing GT2, I remember being upset about not being able to Race Modify every vehicle like you could in GT1, but at least in GT2 we(hybriders) could edit the polygons, and do our own modifications. Of course when I started playing GT3 I was upset again since you can't race modify any of the vehicles, and even us hackers have been unable to edit bodies with any consistency. I have yet to see one vehicle in GT4 that has aftermaket parts, that was not a special model, and have heard no official mention of race or aftermarket modifications.

I missed what GT2 did with its replays. You could press up on the controller and pick what ever lap you wanted to see in your free run replay. In GT3, if you wanted to view you lap 10, well, you just had to wait until lap 10 came around.

I hate not being able to do an oil change in the middle of a very long championship such as the Polyphony. Or if you can someone please tell me! I think it would also be cool to be able to perform an oil change while in the pits of a race, sacrifice 10 more seconds or something, It would be nice to get an extra punch for the end. I do miss the aero package, that was nice to be able to adjust downforces on a road car. I agree with having I guess an interactive reply, where you can rewind, forward, or jump to laps and maybe even zoom in or out for a elevated view. That would be pretty cool

I really wish you could adjust the settings during a pit stop. It would be nice to be able to adjust the downforce and whatnot especially during the enduros. In GT2 I was disappointed in the lack of qualifying. While I usually just start at the back, it would have been nice to be able to qualify in the "Real driving simulator." I also agree that you should be able to control the replays (play, FF, RWD, pause, change camera angles, etc).

GT3's lack of cars was a let-down, of course. Having no racing modifications wasn't really that disappointing for me. Some cars look better without them. No used cars was also a disappointment in GT3. Nevertheless, it is still a great game, and I have enjoyed it very much.

I have not gt2 or 1, so, what do you mean with that lack of cars and racing modifycations, are that kinda settings?

in gt1 you had the choice to buy used cars instead of new and at lower prices giving you a better choice to start the game from especially from the start.als you had the opportunity to purchace for almost all cars ana areo package full ground effects you only find on the lm special cars like penzoil calasonic skylines and so on.the replay part isn't big for me i hardly ever view them unless something odd or cool happened during the race.

GT3 has more cars than GT1, in GT1 though you could giver ever car a racing body with logo's and wings etc. in GT2 there was over 600 cars, most of thoes could be given the racing bodies as well. You basically made your car into a proper race car.

Upon viewing the list of cars for GT4, All I could hope for was a fox body mustang.

Well, it has a 1979 pace car, and that's it. Of all the fox bodies, you would think they could use a more modern (87 - 93) GT or Notchback style.

The notchback is by far the most famous of any fox body mustang simply because of it's stiffer chassis and less weight.

I thought it was great, except for turbo lag. In GT1 if you applied a stage 4 turbo kit to a car it would lose massive amounts of low down grunt and gain loads of top end. in GT2, if you put a bloody great big turbo on an eclipse it would still pull like a steam train. while there was some lag still present it was very unrealistic how litte there was. same for GT3, the ONLY car with any noticible lag is the escudo with a 2000hp turbo on a 3.5 litre 6. i mean, wtf?. real realistic there.

^agreed. i would like more realism in the turbo and general engine characteristics. although, the ae86 ss with highest available turbo mod has plenty of lag, goes through the rev range then lights the rear paws at about 7k-11k. nice narrow power bands, the way it should be.i loved the racing mods, and the ability to flick through laps on replays. also the dr30 rs-x skyline from gt2. i want it back in the 4th. by far my favourite car.

I woukld have to say the bposy kits from gt1 are what i msis htheh moskt,.
i thogu it wa scool cool; when ou could makjekmoiu\your cars lok aweosme.

I'd have to say the biggest disappointment, at the end of the day, is the lack of intelligence in the AI. Soon I got tired of beating the rest in professional difficulty in a very inferior car. Now, I crave opponents who won't willingly bump into you or follow the same lines as each other.

When I got GT2 I was also disappointed at the lack of a racing livery/aero package like in GT1. And also I missed the whishing noise from the turbos. In GT3 you can't hear the turbo outside the car. I love to change down gears into a corner whilst hissing at the other cars like a cat.

TurismoTyrrell i agree with you about the turbo nosies in GT3, you cant hear them enough...even with a massive stage 3 or 4. I mean you can hear them slightly but not like in gt2 where they were really agressive. zzzzzZZZZZZZ CHOOOOF!! It would be good if they had a few different sounding turbo blow-off noises too.

The biggest dis. would be if it is the same as GT3 ... not enough cars ... too many boring 20 lap races ... and not strong enough AI ... and better lap record displays and so on ... and HP restricted races ...

And another thing. I think it was in the Trial Mountain enduro in GT3. Only bog standard cars with no tunings are allowed. Then why was there that Supra RZ which buggered off ahead of everyone else, without EVER going into the pits? I don't understand that....

And if I were Polyphony, I'd get rid of the cardboard cut-out spectators. Kinda ruins the realism somewhat.

Well, you had multi-colored squares for spectators in GT1 and 2...the cut-outs look silly, but you don't notice them unless you spin out in front of them. They shift around in funny ways in GT3's rally races.

GT1 and GT2 had racing modification, which meant you shaved a few pounds off the car (after performing Stage 3 Weight Reduction in GT2) and gained the ability to add downforce to many different cars. You could add it to every car in GT2 except the Dodge Concept car, and about 2/3 of all the cars in GT2. Sometimes the race mod looked good, other times it looked terrible or more boring than the color you chose.

No Used Car lots. Which makes the day counter just about useless in GT3.

I have to admit, I'm not yet bothered by the lack of cars in GT3, but it does make starting a new game a little less enticing. You could literally start 6 different games in GT2, and never use the same machinery twice (except for those manufacturer's events like the Tuscan Race).

I really thought the PS2 and GT3 would allow you to have more than one game save per memory card, but even though the technology's there, PD still hasn't brought us this feature that virtually every other game has.

Too much Test Course.

the most missed thing is everything in the previous games, sequeals are suppose to have the same plus more....very dissapointed when i bought my first car (mazda mx-5) and found i couldnt give it racing mods in gt3 :(
