I did not know it was Gates duty to use the rewards of his talents to help all charities. Should he make a distinction between Israeli and Palestinian charities? Should he cease supporting charities under government investigation? What about the risk of supporting terrorism?

The extent, frequency and beneficiary of the donation is entirely the jurisdiction of the benefactor.

For dumb people, that means he can give what he likes, when he likes, to whom he likes, and everyone should simply appreciate the gesture for what it is. He didn't have to do it.
