im in epic dire need of help. I have an upcoming biology seminar where my friend and i have to teach the class about bio terrorism (the use of biological agents to kill/impair people). Anyways, we have to cover the whole subject (what it is, how it works, protection methods, etc) but we also need to incorporate the class. So far, we've thought of nothing good. We've been dwelling on this for a while. So...any ideas on what we can do to get the class involved (we've already finished the research)?

Thanks

Why the hell are you learning about bio-terrorism in a biology class?

umm more like we have to teach it to them....its some stupid assignment. Thought bio terrorism was interesting...

I don't think it'd take much imagination to use your class to demonstrate the spread of biological agents.

Say you've got a class of 30. Each person could represent 10 million Americans (or 200 million people worldwide, or whatever). You could give them different coloured netball bibs to show the spread of a given disease (say... yellow ones for "infected") and mortality rates (say... red ones for "deaded"). You can demonstrate a variety of agents with comparative infectivity and mortality from a single source (one bioweapon attack).

thats genius famine! :D...that could help show the effectiveness of 3 different biological agents from the 3 different classes!

got any more ideas guys??

Have you heard of the cup game? They do it for sex ed. But you could probably use it just as easily for the spread of biological agents. Search google for it and modify it for your uses.

Nooo, not that.
Essentially you get a bunch of cups, fill them with water, put some sort of chemical in it thats invisible into one of the cups. then have everyone mix their cup with another cup a few times. The end result is you get a ph strip for each cup that you have and test them to see who got the STD that was in the cup, and usually, just about everyone has it in the end.

If someone can find more directions to it, I think it could be applied very well to show the spread of biological terrorism.

hahahahaha!! no wonder why it made no sense to me :D. errrr thats interesting, i'll see if i can refine the idea.

I'm sure you could find out info about it from a teacher thats possibly seen it done before. I've played it before, I just cannot find ANYTHING on it, on google.

Or you can grow some ampicillin resistant E.Coli like I did. Then tell people to come up and shake your hand after you palm the agar. Have your classmates go around and meet each other, shaking hands and whatnot, and then count how many students have diarreah the next day. ... throughout the week.

Okay, don't do that.

:lol::lol::lol: I love that Omnis. :D

You want a game for the kids peeweegary?? Get an envelope, fill with talcum powder, put all the students in a circle and play a game of "pass the parcel of anthrax"!! :trouble:
