I was at school today and someone who i trust told me that i can legally drive without a licence, and you can speed with out getting in trouble. He told me that if you get pulled over and say "Sir I am a man traveling down this road, you have no jurisdiction over me" the cop cant do anything because the black brackets around most signs mean something about the rules only apply to people with a set destination, like work or school. at first i thought total B.S. but it peaked my intrest so i asked around and some other people have told me about it being true, anyone know or have heard of it? just thought i should ask.

This likely will give the copper a good laugh, but nothing else beneficial will come of it.

^ Indeed. This may have been the case, decades ago, when cars were being introduced to everyday society. You know, with the switchover from horses and all...

Actully me buddy and i were driving around just talking about all the **** that is going on and we got pulled over by dnr for driving to fast on a lake, we just got a warning and we ended up sparking up a conversation with them (really cool guys) and they said that on public roads if you arent going or coming from work you can say that and depending on the situation you can get let off, if the charge is big enough though they can take you to court like a dwi or wreckless endagerment and convict you. i know the dnr arent real cops but i believed them next time i get pulled over im going to try it just to see what would happen. the reasoning behind it is the fact that you are not going anywhere to go to pay taxes and utimatly pay for the roads you dont have to follow the rules (to an extent) but before i try it to a real cop im going to ask one if it is really true.

P.S. Minnesota dnr officers are cool as hell.

Edit: the buddy that was driving didnt have a licence and since it was before midnight i was able to drive home.

Then you've got some strange rules over in the US ;). PS did you know that in Germany it is illegal to sleep on a washing machine outside.

I don't think telling them that you are a man is going to make a difference. The cop will just look at you like a looney probably.

Ok, had to share that.

Next question is, what do you mean by black bracket?

Cops don't always know themselves. They will possibly tell you something false to make themselves look smart.

I know someone who got a ticket for "illegal winter sport" when a cop saw him snowboarding a handrail.

black brackett means the sign is surrounded with black, stop signs are white brackett also yield signs, but speed limit signs are black as well as the one with the dog poo'ing but you never know there are some crazy loop holes, i was looking for a loop hole to get my licence back and it goes pretty deep strange it it were true then you could do 80 on the freeways and not get fudged by the popo

Most police agencies will have agreements with other agencies that allow them to arrest, cite and otherwise exercise their authority within another jurisdiction, when necessary. So if you got pulled over for speeding on a road by a highway trooper I'm pretty sure he can still give you a ticket.
