Black Screen of Death?

I just started having this problem since the new seasonal update which i think has some wierd tie in with this problem

Whenever i try to use certain japanese cars such as the 97 honda civic or a late 90's gtr the game first freezes then the sound goes off
when i try to quit the game i get a beep sound like im ejecting a disc then a black screen that doesnt go away
after that i have to manually turn of the playstation
ive heard of other people having this problem with japanese cars but have never heard of the black screen i get when i try to turn off the playstion from the ps button screen

I have a 60gb first gen ps3 and a release day copy of gran turismo

just drive another seasonal... i dont like the 90s japan kei car and ferrari @ lemans still the best way to earn credits/exp

I've had that a couple of times, it's just a connection issue and not a big problem
