With very few and rare cases, I think Black wheels looks good, perhaps on a Nissan GT-R... I'm sure there are others.

And I don't mean to disparage anyone here, but honestly, I think they look so garish most of the time! Just plain yuk, especially on a blue Golf R, that comes to mind as 'omg, you've wrecked your car' I've seen a white one around where I live, and it has disgusting 19 inch black wheels, I want to beat the ****er... then steal his car... then ditch it, since it'll probably be manual.

Ok, enough of that - so why? Other colours are fine, obviously silver is the original and still the best, but Red, Blue, Yellow, Orange, Green, White, all have their place on an appropriate vehical, Black might be the same, perhaps its because it's used too often? a Renault Megane R26 for example, I've seen plenty of them with Black wheels, and if its a yellow or blue car, wrong, if its a black car, maybe, but mostly, its just off.

What does everyone else think? Black will never become a standard thing on cars, option perhaps, even one of two, but without specifying, I can't see Black becoming a standard.

Okay, so you don't like black wheels...

I do:

Let's start a pointless flame war about it!

Those comments hurt. Just kidding but in all seriousness, why the hate? I have black wheels on my S4 like the one below(obviously not my car) and I think they look awesome. The Mazda 3 looks good too. To each it's own I guess.

Some cars look like beaters with the wrong wheels in black. It's too dependent on the car and wheel chosen.

Worky. Looks athletic.

No worky. Looks like someone stole his wheels and he's rolling on spares. The styling's too subdued compared to the rest of the car.

(my opinions, obviously)

I can understand your opinion about black wheels but I like them...

Out of all, my favourite is gunmetal. My favourite ever and it suits in every colours.

Opinions are like ass holes. Everyone has one. Mine opinion? Boss as. Just a quick scroll through the few photos on my phone:

:yuck:

Gun Metal is pretty nice, but because it's such a cold industrial shade of gray, there are some colours don't fit well.... like yellow, and maybe green... UGH and magenta!

It depends on a colour of the car and the style of the rim for me. Some cars just look awful with black rims, especially if those rims are cheaply made.

Oh and I think black with a polished lip rims are about the most played out thing in recent automotive culture.

Depending on the car, and colour, black wheels can look good. But when you put them on the wrong car with the wrong colour (pink, light green), they look terrible.

I used to be head over heels for black wheels with a silver or white rim, now I'm iffy about it. I don't entirely dislike it, as I can imagine it looking pretty nice on certain cars, possibly with certain paint schemes, but at the same time I can picture all the cars I've seen that have it. :indiff:

Tis a very subjective subject

*rescans list*

Maybe its all personal opinion and no one would like or dislike all of the ones above, but for me I like the

A

Mr. Jeff Bridges - ok let's face it, that guy can pull anything off.

S5 - That isn't black, but it works (its either onix or gun metal). Maybe because I can see the pattern.

S2000 (below Skyline), it does have a sort of, unfinished powdered look, but considering the rest of the car, it sort of works.

M3 E90 (Black) - I can see the pattern, don't really like the studs on the edges, but otherwise it kinda works for me, if there was a comparison maybe not, but as it is I can't say I don't like it.

And dislike

B
Mazda 3 - its something to do with the white rim around the edge - maybe its because the pattern doesn't stand out, but I think that doesn't work at all.

Skyline (white) - I like the wheels, sort of, but, not on that car

M3 E90/91 (Red) - I might've said I like these, and I love that car, but when there's a perfectly good set of silver wheels on the coupe... its easy to say no.

Porsche 911 - too many spokes, and in contrast to the shiny body, I think silver would've gone better, plus way too many spokes.

Gold car, 4th from Punknoodle_Nick - I'm ashamed to say I don't know, but I think it'd be american... well I don't like the whole car, so, black wheels probably aren't a good one for me to judge, but it doesn't help.

Nissan 370z(?) - Not sure if I really dislike this ones black wheels, but something about the car rubs me wrong, could be the wheels, could be its modded, meh.

Haha thats exactly what i think!

Black wheels are good if your lazy, wont notice them being dirty as much :p

A black car needs either black or silver rims if you ask me.

And all race cars look best in black rims, except the rare exception where the rim color fits into the scheme. I.E The RedBulls in NASCAR had red rear wheels to match the bull on the quarter panel

Black Stock wheels work well for a sleeper theme.
Fixed. The best way to make someone think your car is stock, is by making it look stock.

I'm alright with black wheels, although typically I would prefer them in another color. Absolutely hate black wheels with a polished lip though. Typically I like a "race inspired" look the most, and race cars simple don't have black wheels with polished lips.

*waits for someone to find the one exception in existence to "disprove" my point. Or some amateur race car with some craigslist special wheels in that color*

good shot of mine...but these arnt like a solid black in the sunlight they have alot of metal flake in them
also they have the silver lip to break up the all blacked out look

If it's done well, it's not bad. If it's done with a hugely oversized wheel on a car of the wrong color, it looks like 🤬. This, unfortunately, is what is most often seen.

I don't like it regardless of the way it's done. Work Meisters/SSR Professors I don't hate in that combo, but still like them better in other colors.

Like black cars, black wheels look terrible when they're dirty, and it doesn't take much to make them look dirty...
