okay.

I'm currently being plagued by a series of weird electrical based problems with my blazer (a 91 s type Blazer Tahoe)

1: climate comtroll blower motor has been coming on and cutting out irregularly, due to bumps or jiggling the ignition. i've checked most places I could think of, looking for a loose wiring harness clip (including under the controll panel for the thing itself [idiots used conventional screws!]) throwe in the fact that the function lever will not come off of the defrost position, and you have a very annoying position in the middle of temperatures in the teens farenheight/below zero celcius, and have to sit in it for 8 hours a day or more.

2: the 4wd does not seem to kick in in hi without backing up several feet, yet the 4 low distinctively clinksd into position using the park, then foreward gear trick. it has the electronic transfer case and automatic hubs.

3: i need a good snow tire reccomendation. when I purchased it, it had offmarket (Herculese Terr Trac) 235/75's rigged more for dirt than anything else.

thanks

I think we told you to go for Jeep

Anyway. better wait 'til BlazinXtreme logs on, he's my best bet to help you. I think there's also a page calle s10forums.com or something like that... again, BlazinXtreme is the man to seek

Never heard of this happening on older s-series so I'm not sure what to tell you on this. Sorry.

Common problem, check the s10forum.com they'll be able to tell you exactly what the problem is. I don't have much experience with 4 wheel drive, I only have a 4x2.

My buddy has these on his ZR2 S-10 and they work really well in the snow, mud, gravel, and they aren't bad on the road. They are Dueler tires, but they are all season, not just winter tires.

For straight up winter...
Blizzaks, no question about that

Diego: unfortunately, the only thing I could get for the loan money from Jeep Brand for the two grand that my mother fenagled me is a mid 70's J10 rwd :P

Blazin:
*laughs hard at the pic*
i've had the same problem with my Acclaim...except that the entire damn pannell seized hard
4wd: hopefully, it's not in technicalese...i can barely read my old hot rods, cause I have to remember the tech terms
Tires: the tires are rigged only to work on loose dirt and for rock crawling (they do pretty good in muddin, too). but Blizzacks? i've gone through 10 vehicles in 11 years of driving, but this is the first time I've had a good set of tires that was set for single purpose. besides, I don't have 6-700 bucks plus shipping all at once for something fancy (tho god knows I wanna toss these bugly big rig style wheels). half of my paycheck per week goes straight into the gas tank (200 miles/320 km a DAY!!)

Hiya! :D :O  Meow! (='.'=)

The only thing I can give you is that you need to get a wiring diagram for your cars electrical accesseries system. You can use a DMM (Digital Multi-Meter) and start tracing around all the connections that are involved with your climate control blower.

Your switch is probably the problem since it will not get off of the defrost. 👍 Use the DMM to be sure because sometimes there could be more problems around the switch that causes it.

Well if you want something other then just winter only tires go with the Duelers, there are cheaper verisons of that tire but that will make it through anything. But just go to www.tirerack.com put in your information and you can see thousand of different tires, also I just saw they have a rating system for each tire which allows you to see how they preform in all conditions.

I have Hydoedge tires on my Blazer which as kick ass performance all-sersons...but I think they'd look funny on your truck.

Mc: i managed to get the screws out of the pannell for the heater controlls, and also had a peek at the blower motor itself. I can't get to half the connectors (the switchgear won't pull out far enough). the witing is extremely tightly packed. someone put that together pretty well

Blazin: went and put cooper Glaciergrip on monday afternoon. 200 bucks! (everybody says "they saw youcoming"). and that was only for the back. found they didn't make a damn bit of difference. must be my lead foot from having to drive 140hp front drive early eighties for so long :P

ps...can't get into s10forum without regestering first *annoyed*

Just register for the s10forum.com they will give you a lot of help on everything. Very friendly forum.

okay, now I'm miffed

not only has the detent spacer for the fan controll broken off inside the pannel...
my alternator caught fire and burned!

from the look of things, it dropped off it's mounting bolts, and what ever the thing is behind the pully contacted the mounts , and burned it out.

we're simply gonna replace the whole thing outright. the overlying radiator hose and the serpentine belt don't seem to have been touched at all

Wow you seem to be having a lot of problems with that thing, which surprises me because those things typically last a long time.
