I just picked up the new Metallica CD intitled St. Anger.

Upon first listen it's a very new sounding Metallica. Its almost like they tried to go back to the ways of old while keeping some of the same newer stuff.

Rob Trujillo is great on the bass. Much better then Jason Newsted but not up to the Cliff Buton level. He will work well with Metallica.

I give the CD a 80%. No gutiar solos really hurt the album. Also James doesn't sound as good as past albums.

The price is right on it to. If you look around it should be about 15 bucks and you get a cool DVD with it.

and who would say?? metallica is #1 in selling records!!!!

look here

Initial reports from retailers around the country confirmed that METALLICA's "St. Anger" will debut at No. 1 on next week's chart, besting JEWEL, who'll bow at No. 2, according to Hits Daily Double.

Best Buy's Lon Lindeland, who began selling the disc Wednesday (June 4), one day ahead of the official release date, said he received a letter from WEA telling him to put the stock out on the shelves as soon as he received it, though refused to predict overall numbers. "The goods are out there," he said. "Some people have suggested the same amount of sales would simply be stretched out over a longer period of time. I believe there will be incremental sales, having it out for 10 days rather than five. It feels like one of the biggest rock records of the year."

Wherehouse Music's Bob Bell says it's still hard to gauge what first-week sales on METALLICA will be, but added: "I think it's going to be huge. If there's such a thing as a sure bet these days, it's METALLICA. With today being the official street date, we'll know better by tomorrow morning."

I can't really decide what's worse: Metallica at #1, or Jewel's piece of Britney **** at #2. and to think that Led Zeppelin's How the west was won live new release was in number one just a week ago makes me ask... the taste in music is THAT ****ty??? how come a band like profitallica get a legend like the zep out of #1???? people are stupid.

Well I agree Zeppelin should be number one. I like them moe then Metallica. But St. Anger is not a #1 record by any means.

A great album with some of their heaviest stuff yet and it's a breath of fresh air from the over produced albums they released in the 90's. And for the record producer Bob Rock played bass during the recording, Trujillo joined whilst the album was in post production.

I know in the album case it says Rob Trujillo is the bass player and he is. What i'm saying is that he didn't actually record any of the basslines on the album Bob Rock did. James Hetfield is on record as saying they felt is was unfair to take Rob into the studio and re-record the basslines as Bob Rock had worked and lived with the band for the months of recording and was very much part of the Metallica line up for that time. If you read the paragraph at the bottom of the page with the line up it explains this!
