2003 ford lightning
SETTING
a very cold november day as in yesterday
i was up and around at 6:22 am due to the simple fact i had to be at work at 7:00 am. i knew my stepdad had something up his sleeve. he told me im going to back it out of the yard and youll take it from there. so as i waited patiently i proceeded to get very anxious and await my turn to hop in the beast. when i got in. i noticed, everything is very comfortable sitting in the truck. Once i figured out where everything was i was on my way. I pulled up to the higway and felt myself panic a bit from the prior kowledge ive got from this thing. As i hit my turn signal and pulled out on the road i got lots of looks from passing motorists. I proceeded to hit a few corneres then i immedately noiticed where this thing really shines is through the bends. it almost feels car-like not truckish like i thought. one thought ran through my head... this is a truck then as i trail braked it from 60mph into a right hander i had a little fun
. I asked my stepdad if i could get on it a little bit and he said "if you can handle it go for it".... so being the daredevil i was.... i did and i felt the truck go from 25mph to 60 in a big hurry and the supecharger kick in with that very nice whine to it. so i saw what i was doin so i slowed down from 60-25 again. i noticed thing #2 it will stop very quickly. i turned onto another right and this idiot in this ford contour got 3 inches off my rear bumper so i was mindin my own business then in decided "So buddy ya wanna play this way huh i can too" so i let the pedal go down slightly then thats where i noticed thing 3 they accelerate very quickly as in i was doing 80 in a very short time. as in i went from 35-80 in what felt like a split second.
UPSIDES on the real lightning
wicked fast, smooth driving, very snappy acceleration, almost no effort put into trying to slow the truck down. very strong driveline. loads of grip
DOWNSIDES
wicked fast, very heavy truck (4600 lbs). super high insurance and fuel costs
FLIPSIDE (where things get fun quickly) i decided to drive a gt4 lightning after the experience
the shakedown course (midfield raceway)
overall thoughts
no real comparison . the truck is a good drive but nothing like the real deal i was actually let down. it would take some mods to get it up to the real ones stats
