Bloom.

Interesting word, and one that I've just learned the meaning of... it's the effect of the cloudy highlights that seem to be all the rage recently on here.

I know that 'styles' of shots on this forum come and go in time, but I'm split on this really - not sure if I like it or not. The effect is cool in some shots, but users run the risk of overdoing it in my opinion.

Just wondering out loud what peeps on here think about it. :dopey:

personally I don't like it to much... it has to be very well executed to look right to my eyes :D

It can look right which is why I use it sometimes.
But it needs to be used in moderation because overdone bloom is, like everything overdone, simply awful. :yuck:

A lot of my day shots are ruined with a high exposure in the clouds, leaving the vehicle in the shadows. I've been avoiding most sky captures and continued to focus on ground captures with this horrible brightness issue. I wouldn't mind seeing GT4 photomode features in GT5. I've managed to capture great sky and ground combination photos, though when you increase the brightness, the photo lacks contrast. A set of brightness, contrast, and saturation options would be greatly appreciated in the game.

If you want to add brightness, use a photo editing program.
I like bloom and glare effects, because they help to hide some ugly edges from tree lines etc.

I feel the same about the overuse of 'Light Bleed' effects on photos, gets boring after a while and i don't think it adds anything to a photo.

Subtle is better, a slight hint of light bleed would be better than half of a picture being overrun with a colour wash!

Hmm, agree with all of the above. Can look great when done right and when not over used.

Just if anyone wants to know how it looks -overdone though- here's some reference:

Looks at the trees, and the Vette's wing.

400th post! :gtpflag:
