hey guys, i've been tinkering with the only bmw in the game. i wanted a non-american FR NA car, that didnt leave much, anyway the bmw doesn't look that bad, anyway here are the settings. please try them out and tell me if you can modify them to make the car drift better. its not too bad at the moment but i feel it's pushed 'over the edge' too easily... by that i mean it will spin 180 in a drift when i feel it should still hold for a bit longer. the camber is set to 6, highly insane but that keeps it stable in drift. likewise with the negative toe.

bmw 328
mods: all best mods except NA tuning stage 2. and no turbos or intercoolers.

sim tyres front and back

all settings in the format, front/rear

spring rate: 5.1/5.7
ride height: 105/105
shock bound: 3/3
shock rebound: 6/6
camber angle: 6.0/0.0
toe angle: -1.5/0.0
stabilizers: 5/5
brake balance: 19/9
lsd initial: 50
lsd accel: 15
lsd decel: 10
gear ratios: auto - 25

asm: 0
tcs: 0

earlier on today i actually had the same settings but with no NA tuning, still all the other mods. and the settings were slightly different:
ride height was 107/109
bound 1/1
rebound 3/3
stabilizers 2/2

the rest was the same, feel free to try that too, let me know what i should change! thanks

For me it is the best when it is modified just slightly, to keep the original balance of the car. Just add a little power and you're all set. The insane camper on the front reduces grip a lot, so i think you should just keep it at default.

hey knight havent tried settings cant be bothered now will do 2moro ;) but for drifting i prefer all mods apart from hp induing i try to balace those to end up with a little over 400hp i can do drifts best with 400hp:D

yeah well it does in most cars but with this beemer i just kept increasing it until it felt stable in a drift, at first i had the rear camber set to 4 or 5, and yes my car had no turning ability then due to lack of any grip, but i reduced rear to zero and suddenly my car settled itself and turned nicely. i've tried reducing it but it 180's very quickly then...

Here's some advice on drifting the BMW 328ci:

When there was a race with this car on Dep Forest Raceway II, the car was very anxious to oversteer in corners. It was hard to cope with the oversteer since the fastest way to finish the lap was to take the racing line. Those settings Nightmage82 posted are good to keep the car stable in a turn. Keep in mind though: Since this car is very easy to oversteer, try to keep the throttle position low because there would be a lot of wheelspin in the rear.

Actually Nightmage82, those settings are pretty good to race with also 👍 except in the race I would turn on TSC to 3 and ASM to 1 since it oversteers so much :)

thanks for the input thio... well its meant to drift so oversteer is the way to go! :D but thats what im saying it oversteers a LITTLE too much. i found that turning the accel down in the lsd helped sort this out a lot. turning up the initial also helped improve the stability in the drift

I started drifting with the clk55 all mods except for lsd and medium racing slicks. It took me about 30 minutes to get the basics down and then I started to enjoy it alot. been drifting for a few months now and finally decided to try the bmw 328.

At first I also thought it was very sensitive but after 5 laps around Complex string it got alot better. Once again all mods cept I went the NA route and not turbo sim tyres but I left the settings all intact. I`ve drifted the bmw for about 6 hours now and only recently changed the camber in the back to 3 which only helped me take long corners better.

You have to learn with the BMW to control the throttle very precisely otherwise it will be a disaster. It`s one of those cars that requires alot from the driver.

I`m not saying that it`s a crap car. I actually love cars like those that reward you for your experience and efforts.

BTW can anyone maybe make a video of a 328 around complex string and upload it? I would do it but I don`t have the equipment :(

Just want to see how someone else controls the car

when i was tuning the bemer for drifting i found if you stiffen the front springs quite a bit you gain considerably more control over the vehicle.:D , its worth a try.

also the bmw has a lot of torque at low revs which is why its so different from the jdm cars for drifting.

i actually found this a very easy drift setup to get the hang of!

the engine is so torquey so you don't have to keep it on the edge like you do with a turbo car, you can (and sometimes have to) drift at very low revs in a gear higher than you would normally take a corner. the steering is very forgiving, probably due to the huge negative toe, if you feel it either going over or under the limit you can usually turn quickly and recover and hold your drift. that being said, it would require alot of skill to drift this car at opposite lock

i think the amount of front camber and the soft spring rates make the car look silly on replays. the fairly open diff center is good for high speed drifting but makes the car difficult at low speeds like an open diff in a real car. the high initial makes it alright though. i found this car difficult to start a braking drift with, which is my favorite way of starting a drift, it would either not turn enough and drift for half the corner then grip. or turn too much and spin out

i doubled the spring rates as the car is so heavy, halved the camber and found this a much more useable car that i think looks good on replays. sometimes you can get it to really hang, usually on a big sweeper, on tighter corners its only half out but still bagging up the treads to make a nice showy drift. to make this car more of a low speed drifter, i used a more agressive lsd setting, 50/50/40. it doesn't hamper its high speed drifting abilities too much either, you just need to chuck it into the corner more, or at a higher entry speed

overall, i thought this was a good foundation for a beginning drift setup. big powerband and forgiving steering means you don't have to be too precise, so it's just fun to get in and blast. but difficult to do a really big showy perpendicular-to-the-edge-of-the-track drift in
