BMW M3 GTR settings?

I'm having a hard time with this car. I did a search, but I can't really find any GTR specific settings. I have a CSL and a GTR Race car, and they're my 2 favorite cars. They're both dialed in perfectly.

The regular GTR is unpredictable. It's front-heavy, understeers badly. It's all over the road on the Nurb. I've tried variations of my CSL and GTR Race car settings, which didn't help much.

I feel like this car has a lot of potential, but i'm too frustrated with it. Ideally, i'd like to get it as close to the feel of the race car as possible. Stability is what i'm looking for, as i'm sure it'll be manuverable no matter what.

Any suggestions guys?

strange, i find i'm fighting oversteer instead of understeer. then again i've only really run it on r5 tyres.

did you fit a wing aswell?

Well, there's my set-up, but that's the only one I could find. There's probably more here, though. :indiff:

You should go to GTVault (Google it if you don't know about it), they have a gazillion set-ups there, and I'll bet you my lunch that there's some M3 GTR set-ups there.

Hope this helps,

I've been running R2's and R3's. I had some problems with it oversteering as well with some setups i've tried. I read some posts where people talked about the engine being heavier than the I-6 in the CSL, making the GTR nose heavy. Myabe that has something to do with it.

I've been trying REAL hard not to put a wing on this car. But I finally broke down a few minutes ago and threw one on. That solved most of my problems. It still doesn't handle as well as the CSL or the GTR Race car...but it's at least useable now.

luftrofl
Have you tried using the weight balance to fix understeer?

I usually set mine to 20% or more in the rear.
I've tried it but I had a hard time with finding a good balance that wouldn't make the car sluggish and less manuverable. How much weight are you putting on?

.Duck.

Thanks a lot...those settings help out a bunch (i'll check out that site as well, I wasn't aware of it, thanks). I didn't have a wing on it, but I bit the bullet and fitted one. The car is a LOT better now. I'm still having some problems with the back end bouncing around a bit on the Nurb, if I go into some of those bumpy corners too fast it'll flip out too far and I completely loose control. I'm going to try messing with the weight balance a bit and see if I can cure that without killing the handling and the acceleration. With the CSL, if I start to loose it i'm able to pull the car back around easily. The GTR is difficult to keep in check at the limits of its handling.

FWIW, I also applied the stock GTR Race car settings to this car after I fitted the wing. They work pretty well now, though not as loose as yours. I find yours more manuverable. I'm going to play around with both a little bit and tweak them to my driving style.

I think I just plain like the CSL better. That may be what's going on here. I expected the GTR to be a step up, I guess that's not the case. I'm a good 12-15 seconds quicker around the Nurb with the CSL, even with the wing and these new settings on the GTR.

Thanks again everyone for the help. I'd definitely recommend throwing a wing on, for anyone who hasn't tried it yet.

Try softening the spring rates by 2.0 each side, and lower each damper number by 1-3. That should make it cope with the bumps more.
