The BMW M4 DTM Turbo is a "Class 1" touring car built by the German car manufacturer BMW for use in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters. It is a turbocharged variant of its predecessor, the BMW M4 DTM, which had a naturally aspirated engine. This car made its debut in the 2019 DTM season. The first shakedown run of the BMW M4 DTM Turbo took place on October 27, 2018, conducted by Bruno Spengler at BMW headquarters in Munich, Germany. The official race debut of the BMW M4 DTM Turbo was at the 2019 Hockenheimring 1 DTM round on May 4, 2019. Marco Wittmann of BMW Team RMG secured the first pole position and won the inaugural race with the M4 DTM Turbo car.

Equipped with a BMW P48 Turbo I-4t engine that generated 610 horsepower, with an additional 30 horsepower boost from the push-to-pass system, in accordance with the 2019 regulations. The car could reach a top speed of over 300 km/h (approximately 186 mph) and accelerate from 0 to 100 in 2.9 seconds.

The rear wing of the BMW M4 DTM is 520 millimeters wider than that of the 2018 car and consists of a single section. The DTM adopted the concept of the standard part from the Japanese Super GT Championship. The rear wing still features DRS (Drag Reduction System) in the form of a pneumatic flap mechanism, reducing aerodynamic drag.

The mandatory weight of the new BMW M4 DTM when empty is now less than 1,000 kg. The car must weigh a minimum of 981 kg without driver or fuel, which is 50 kg less than the previous season. The combination of more engine power and less weight results in a significantly lower power-to-weight ratio of 1.6 kg/hp. This should ensure that the cars reach the 300 km/h mark on the fastest sections of the DTM calendar, such as the Parabolica at the Hockenheimring.

According to Class 1 regulations, there will be no number plate on the BMW M4 DTM in 2019. This increases the size of the intakes for the cooling system, and the opening of the characteristic BMW radiator grille has also been optimized.

Several notable changes have been implemented in the design of the BMW M4 DTM. The cooling vents in the bonnet have undergone a significant increase in size to accommodate the intercooler of the two-liter turbo engine. Simultaneously, the protrusion of the front splitter has been notably reduced, up to 90 millimeters, enhancing the car's resilience in wheel-to-wheel battles. Additionally, the diffuser on the BMW M4 DTM now sits 30 millimeters lower, and the starting point of the diffuser ramp has been shifted back by 870 millimeters. Introducing a new feature, a vent on the rear windscreen has been incorporated, contributing to optimized ventilation within the car's interior.

Apart from these changes, the aerodynamics remain unchanged compared to 2018. With this combination of tried-and-tested and modified aerodynamic components, the focus shifts even more firmly towards the driver, avoiding an aerodynamic arms race between manufacturers.

The new firewall in the interior, shielding the cockpit directly behind the driver, enhances the safety of the car. Consequently, there is no interior mirror from 2019 onwards. Instead, the BMW M4 DTM is equipped with a rear-view camera and display.

For the 2019 season, BMW Team RMG entered the championship with two drivers, namely Marco Wittmann, represented by the number 11, and Bruno Spengler, represented by the number 7. Marco Wittmann's car featured sponsorship from Schaeffler, displaying a green livery, while Bruno Spengler's car had sponsorship from BMW Bank and showcased a black livery.

In the 2019 season, driver Marco Wittmann, secured the third position in the championship, trailing two positions behind the Audi vehicles. Wittmann amassed a total of 202 points, in contrast to Rene Rast, who led with 322 points, and Nico Muller, with a score of 250. Throughout the 18 races, the team clinched victory in 5 of them, with Marco Wittmann contributing to 4 of these wins. Despite being unable to surpass Audi's dominance, they successfully solidified their position as the most competitive BMW team, outperforming Team RMR, which secured only one victory, and Team RBM, which did not claim any wins.
