About the M7:The heavily massaged version of the recently introduced 760i sedan features a less restrictive exhaust, revised suspension compontry, and larger front and rear brakes.

At time of press, engine modifications have been limited to an additional 450cc of displacement, mild porting of cylinder heads and larger valves, but the most important gains are to be found in lightened internal components as well as re-mapping of the S70/4's direct injection and Double VANOS variable valve timing mechanism. BMW's head of engine development, Paul Rosche, is confident that final output figures will easily surpass the 376 kW (504 bhp) of the prototype vehicle tested at Nurburgring in December.

"The possibilities of the new Bosch engine management system combined with BMW's revolutionary direct injection system and Valvetronic intake control are limitless. In conjunction with the existing electronic throttle and and iDrive systems, we hope our customers will be able to fully exploit this vehicle's power to the fullest. Our target is currently 500 kW (536 bhp), which we should easily reach within a few months time," said Professor Rosche.

BMW's Chairman of the Board of Management, Joachim Milberg, hopes the M7, the first-ever upper luxury performance version from the Motorsport division, will be ready for its unveiling at the Frankfurt International Auto Show in September. With demand so strong for its just released 7 Series, and reeling from dealer and customer criticism of its ineffective supply policies, BMW plans to implement a new "lottery-type" allocation system. It will donate the first batch of 50 M7's...to the idiots at supercars.net who think I'm serious. C'mon, only fooling, guys. But not about the sales part. Who knew they could sell so many E65's in only 12 days?

man that new 5 series is ugly!!! why is BMW putting that ugly backend on every new car of theirs? i can't imagine what the 3series will look like...

say, can i put a Bimmer pic too? why not, by far the best looking 3 series generation...

That M7 looks so awesome! I wonder how much it will sell for. A 750il sells for over $90,000 so that car will sell for a lot.

ahh, the E30 (as it is known to those in the BMW know, like me :)). My first car is probably gonna be an E30 318is, the sport-model 4-cylinder :)

if you want more info on the E30, go to www.bmwe30.net :)

too bad their pic gallery is down, or....wait....

*me remembers about supercars.net*

heres a good one at a different site...

oh, and this has got to (along with the new M3 GTR) be my fave BMW saloon racer....

1978_bmw_320_turbo-1.jpg

BMW 320 turbo....powered by the M12 engine which would eventually become the base for the F1 engine. Old design, too--I've heard back to the 60s, and the F1 teams ran basically street blocks :)

I am the BMW freak on the board, if not "the" then one of the hardcore ones  :)

oh, and there should not be an Med 7-series. That just ain't right. Seriously. I don't think BMW would want to sell an M-car with the 7's automatic.

My dad likes the new 6-series too; and, as an owner of an original 635csi (which I ride in to school every day :)) he'd be one to know :)

i nearly owned a E30!! it was either a 325i or the Integra... you know which one i chose... i'd get an E30 M3 though... pretty nice and rare car!

say, that M7 thingy looks more like a photoshop job than a true concept...

Mmm... E30 M3's can fly too!

I really hate the new BMW rear end treatment (as seen on the new 7) - looks like the back on a Sydney cab.

yeah I was thinking that too. The M7 has this sort of fake look to it. Also I think...Can anyone tell me if those are Euro lights?

Don't all European cars have "Euro lights"?

My first thoughts looking at those pictures was that some of them look like they were done in photoshop :p.

And now to steal a quote from Better Off Dead and modify it a bit:

"I know it's a BMW... what have you done to it?"

Seriously, I would be ashamed to own a car that wears the same logo as some of those hideous beasts :p. I thought the 1 series was going to be cool looking, instead the car in those pictures looks like a pig. hopefully the end results will be better :).

my advice is avoid any 318 (even worse is the 316, a vauxhall astra could beat that thing in a straight line) even though i am a great BMW fan, the 4 cylinder 318's are very lifeless and have very little puch to them. i dont know how much money you have to spend on a car but if its possible you should try and get hold of a 6 cylinder series. they are more expensive but you will have a lot more fun. :D

totaly agree a 4 cylinder BMW is not worth buying all you would be doing is kicking yourself later for not getting the 6
