Thought of the "greatest motorcycles" thread for this, but since it was never produced I decided against it.
Somebody found this is a box somewhere in 2005. The frame was rusted, the fenders were corroded and bent, the battery was still in it and had ruptured, all kinds of problems. BMW has restored it and it will live in the BMW museum, but it's also a running bike now and will be shown at various events.
The bike is significant for a couple of reasons, but to me the standout is that it's the first telescopic front fork on a motorcycle.
