For me it's sometimes. Mostly when I need the win for Gold. Other times when I want to see how a particular car does or when I'm grinding for a specific goal. If I can get him a lap up on the main pack then he can coast to victory. If it's an Endurance race and I know he can't win flat out then I'll push him for the first 10 laps or so.
 
If he's not in an over-powered car for the race I usually have to step in now and again.

I chose an ultra-cool bob so when he relaxes he tends to drop to pace-car pace.
 
Even my most agressive bobs drop to pace car pace once they get about 2 seconds clear of the field, or 2 seconds away from the cars in front and behind. They usually can't get back up to speed until they've been passed by the first one or two or three cars.

I help them if I'm available, if I'm highly distracted I give them a car fast enough to only need an occasional poke.

I find swearing at them helps.
 
I let my Bob do his own thing. They're all lvl39-40 so they can pretty much ensure a win. Bob's got skills!!!

Also threatening to fire him helps too, and listing everything useful he can't do :lol:

I've only cracked it and fired 1 Bob for being a massive tool during a race. No threats, no written warnings, fired!

Then all of my Bob's turned it around and all is back on track. Until Sony sent them on an online holiday!
 
I don't give him any instructions unless he's putting the miles on my X2010.

Guess what, he manages to spin it out on Indy, without my help:dunce:

And also maintaining his pace to keep him in front of the chasing pack. And also increasing his pace when he loses pace. And also decreasing pace when he's about to run out of the fuel at the very end. I won by doing all of this. :D

Me too, this allows for a little more power to be placed in bob's hands without him losing it. I often have to slow him down because he keeps crashing it. Race starts, fast car jets ahead on the front straight, bob's temper drops like a rock, set for the race! :dopey:
 
Yeah, I give him help, I tell him to stop sucking.

He listens sometimes.
