Hi there,

Recently I've had trouble with my G27, specifically the accelerator pedal. While driving, the throttle input either wasn't complete even while the pedal was fully depressed and it stuck at around half throttle even when the pedal was completely released. I immediately thought it was time to clean the pots but to my suprirse I found 2 issues:

1. I'm an imbecile who was never taught not to tighten bolts too much. Now, I had an awful time removing the hex-head bolts that keep the pedal plats in place. They're wasted now. Are they replaceable for something with a screw-driver head?

2. The accelerator pot didn't look dirty but it looked very poor. The brushes are fine but the plastic disc bit seems worn, the little channels on it look very thin and worn out. Are the potentiometers on the G27 pedals repleaceble as well? What should I be looking for and where?

Thanks in advance for your help guys. I'm itching to get back on the road and give that Lotus 97T a good thrashing!

I'm not an expert but I'm sure the G27 pedal faces are held on with normal metric machine screws, so any countersunk machine screw of the same diameter and length will be fine, I'm sure. However I don't know what those sizes are. The mounting holes on a G27 are M6, though, so if your screws fit in the mounting holes, you need M6. M7 screws don't exist so if they're too big you probably want M8.

As for replacement pots, everyone needs them at some point but no one has actually figured out where to get them, as far as I know. I've heard they're 10K logarithmic, if that helps. Which it probably doesn't.

Thanks, never thought of the rubber band one and I still have one bolt out of six to go 👍.

Oh no...oh no..nonononononononono :( :( :(

So, what to do when a pot seems to be gone and you don't have $300 around for a new wheel and pedals set? :nervous:

Would it work using in the gas pedal the pot for the clutch pedal?

EDIT: The trick of using a rubber band with the bolt worked for one of the bolts that grounds the pot, sadly the one that holds the lower portion of the clutch pedal plate is still there. Oh well, took the pedals appart with the pedal plates on so I'm likely to build them again with the clutch pedal plate on.

I'm planning on this, please let me know guys if it can work:

Switching the entire assembly from the clutch pedal to the accelerator pedal (except for half the red piston, the spring and the pedal plate) and plugging the accelerator wires to the clutch pot. Smart move or dumb:censored: way to kill my G27?

The pots are all the same so go for it. Just be sure to get the colours right: The red and black wires are always on the left and right potentiometer pins, the other wire (I think it's either orange, green or white depending on the pedal) is always on the middle pin. If you get the red and black the wrong way around, i.e. connect them to the wrong pins, the pedal is simply inverted so to fix it you just swap them over, but if you create a short between the red and any other colour wire you will most likely damage the wheel. Just take pictures of the pots before you do anything and make them look the same when you're finished and you should be good to go.
