Yep. 190 dead or something. Very sad. But if Spain wasn't going around pushing the rest of the world around things like that wouldn't happen. They really brought it on themselves.

192 Deaths so far, 1400 wounded. Al-Qaida allegedly claimed the bombings, but ETA could be responsible too, although, considering the elections are coming up, and ETA wouldn't want a certain Spanish right-wing party to come out on top it's slightly unlikely.

I'm calling Al-Qaida.

apparently it could have been a reaction to spains support of the war in iraq, or somthing along those lines.

i could have posted an article but the thought never occured to me for some reason :odd:

Wow, i finished reading the atricle. Very harsh. And those picutres? Wow.

Another worrying thing is that a letter was sent out threatning further attacks on America, although they are saying it might just be an empty threat.

The Minister of the Interior called ETA a bit early - I only have a passing familiarity with the separatists but I thought I when I first heard of the bombing last night (Australian time) that it sounded a lot unlike ETA - too big, and they usually give warnings.

This does have the signs of an Al Qaeda attack.

I'm also calling Al-Qaeda... ETA doesn't seem to have the organization to pull it off, nor the inclination to make as huge of a mess.

Stupid jerks.

I think Al Qaeda will put thier hands up to anything...they even claimed to have caused the NY blackout recently...

its interesting that no one has officially owned up to the bombing but if it was ETA, then i believe they would of had help in the materials and organisation...possibly from Al Qaeda because they have been planning a european terror campaign for some time and although security is tight in Spain, an insider (ETA) may be a good 'way in' for them

thing is, now NY had its hit, then Madrid,....who was the other major ally of the US?....is London next on the terror list?

Stupid jerks.

On Dicenber 24th (last year) police catched a van with 500kg of explosives going to Madrid.

And they've killed lots of people in a department store in 1989 with a bomb.

They have people and organization to pull off any attack, but lately police have stopped lots of attacks (boms and killings).

Either that or they're flying Qantas....

Has Spain played that big a part in "The Fight Against Terror" to be a target for Al Qaeda?

That makes me think it was ETA. It just seems it is too big a coincidence that it is days before election time.

yes, Vat Man...but i was talking about a European terror campaign...i would imagine Oz will be high on the hit list....unless you count Bali which they may of had a hand in.

My theory is ETA and Al'queda worked together on this one. I believe it has all the traits of Al'queda but the timing of ETA. Has anyone made the March 11th and sept 11th connection yet?

Britains next, I reckon they'll hit some Portrugal 2004 tourists.
