Fairlady Z Version S (Z33) '07, fresh from the new car dealership, provided a good challenge. Passed the leader AI (Mitsubishi Evolution X) at the last sector of last lap.
 
I tried the highest level Nissan Z it is absolutely rubbish on stock tyres couldn't get within 30 seconds of the leader and it had poor acceleration and understeer.

Have gone for the lower level more powerful Z now for my next attempt and fitted racing tyres just encase it drives anything like the one I tried first...
 
I used the 350Z GT edition with sports soft tyres and a stage 1 weight reduction.

Overtook the nr.1 on the beginning of lap 5.
 
350Z from the premium dealership. Tried stock and finished 5th. Added sports exhaust and fixed sports suspension on stock tire(Sport Hard) and passed the evo at the start finish straight and won by .1 sec...:D

Not a fan of that track but its usually a lot of fun trying to hustle the car through there...
 
Tried it with what I assume was the 350Z fitting racing soft and passed 1st early on lap 5 with an average drive. Would have been interesting on sports tyres...

Still don't like the car though even on racings it doesn't get round the tight corners as well as it should.
 
Came in 3rd with a stock 350Z + oil change and sports hard tires. Probably can find the extra 2 seconds a lap I need to get first with some late braking into the turns and more exploitation of SRF.
 
I used the 350z from a gift ticket, used racing hards for an easy win
 
hopped up my 350Z for this one..but I don't think I needed to. Passed the lead car late on lap 2 and cruised to a 30+ second win:p
 
used the 350z Gran Turismo 4 edition from the UCD for this with just the oil change... finished a distant third. Will probs try a 370z stock next.
 
Used the premium failady Z, horrible understeer and acceleration, not really enjoyable...
 
I used the Fairlady Z '02 version that I bought from the UCD.
An oil change and sport exhaust brought it to 289hp and I also added Sports Hard tires. After numerous attempts I was finally able to pass the lead car in the hairpin at the end of the lap on the final lap. I found this one to be great fun as I kept chipping away a bit of time on each attempt.

I also tried the '07 370Z in stock form from the New Car Dealership as the original poster suggested. I was able to come within 3 sec of the leader on my 1st try, but haven't had another run yet. The suspension on the '07 370Z seems much softer than the '02 350Z. I enjoyed driving the '02 350Z much more.

I've also got to say I despise that chicane at the end of the lap :yuck:
 
I've had fun using the 1971 240ZG. It's a beautiful car to drive but a bit expensive for this race considering all the mods needed.

I still can't get that consistently and every ten or so laps will make a mistake that costs 5-8 sec. It cost me a victory last night when I had to pass first place at the chicane on the last lap ... came third.
 
Used the 350Z Gran Turismo 4 Limited, found it surprisingly nice to drive. It's basically point and shoot, handling-wise. Won comfortably on sports softs.

One thing that really helped me was having re-learned most of the Madrid course from the ground up in a karting league. In that I ran an hour of practice, 30 minutes of qualifying and two 12-lap races on the mini course and because of that figured out some things about the various turns that carried over to working the full track in the Z. Karting a track offers such a different perspective on it that the experience can't help but expose subtle facets of the course and flaws in your approach.

Running the Ferrari F1 races on Toyko and Suzuka has had similar carryover benefits to my races on those tracks in other cars. For me the adjustments I need to make at either performance extreme definitely contribute to learning. Wonder if others would see the same benefits?

I used the normal 350Z with only slight mods... Sport Softs, ECU, exhaust, sport suspension, weight 1, that was mostly it I think.

Had quite a blast, fun car to drive and won it by over 10 secs!
 
Z33 '05, installed fc suspension and tweaked it, single plate clutch, sports flywheel, carbon driveshaft... tires and everything else stock. Win on last lap.
 
Have now managed to win this with a 370z stock with oil change, but not by much.
 
I beat this on my 2nd or 3rd try with my stock 370Z (already had it in the garage). Oil change was previously performed, but that was it. Fun race!

Lol, struggling with an old 240Z, it just rolls all over the place, even with a suspension tune. And despite extra hp it ain't got the legs! Well it was fun trying but might have to buy the 300 ZX from the OD (34,712)

Redid it in the 300 ZX and after minor tweaks took silver!
 
Am I the only one to do it with a 68 2000 roadster?

I happen to love roadsters and had this car in my garage tuned to 460pp with sport soft tires. It slid around a fair amount (and left some paint on the armco) but took the lead in the last hairpin.

Yeah, you need a few mods on it but it's a really fun car to drive. I spent hours in that car in GT4 and just love the way it handles.

It's an expensive car to use, but far from difficult, and very entertaining.
