The AI's in GT5 are so boring. I understand they aren't going to be suicidal like NFS, but when you go to pass them they act like you aren't there, and the AI's almost never pass each other. This makes offline very boring at times... Anyone feel the same?:indiff:

all i can say is the Aspec NASCAR at daytona was an adventure, AI is really ruthless and just as fast as you.

it is kind of lame how if theyre touching your 1/4 panel while you turn, they totally fishtail you, as you said, like you're not even there

if they were a little more 'aware' everything would be fine..

This is where GT5 will get completely destroyed by F1 2011.

I agree, the AI isn't aware of everything and it just drives at a slow pace. Sometimes it looks like they're just cruising. Still, the game does so many things right that I don't really care. GT5 has never bored me. If I want to do close race, I just go online (or do some split screen with my brother) :)

I definitely hope so. :) Really looking forward to that game.

The AI cars in GTmode literally give up, when you are just besides them... that is the biggest stupid thing I¡ve never seen in a racing game...

And the other one, is in Nascar. They can fishtale you, but the have a magical force that stops you from fishtaling them!
Althought, I've achived it! xD

When you pass certain Ferrari's in the seasonal, you can actually hear them letting off the gas. ON THE MULSANNE.

That AI behaviour was patched at least two times now. Mainly because folks complained licence test were too hard because they couldn't bully their way to the front I guess. That's democracy for you.

Eventually AI behaviour improved again. Just don't kill the AI by overpowered cars is my advice I get some decent battles out of the endurance races though.

The AI hss always been poor, the patches have made their behaviour more docile, but it was AlWAYS possible to bully/pass them with ease. PD made those licence tests easier by removing the disqualification penalty, for making contact with the AI cars.

There is a faster AI in the game, it just isn't used. For example B-Spec drivers once they are above a certain level are much faster than the normal AI. Also if you get the auto drive glitch (providing it hasn't been patched out) the car will sometimes drive round setting very quick laps, much faster than the normal AI could manage.

I don't mind how boring they are, just how dumb they are. Try racing a X1 in full throttle at start at SS7 and then your car will crash at start because the AI pretends you don't exist. Try that will any fairly heavy cars with the exact same car while holding the handbrake while starting the race and the AI will continue to go forward despite the fact that your in the way.

Well the A.I. racers (especially the Minolta) in the race car seasonal are no pushovers. I saw it many times on the ring.

Personally I'd prefer some rubberbanded AI but unless AI got patched yet again, GT500 seasonal has some pretty good AI for instance including defensive behaviour and outbraking. The AI is far from perfect but not as terrible as some make it.

One effort to make licenses easier was the lesser penalty the other the AI which basically hit the brakes once one pulled up. But this has been toned down again.

The only race where the ai give me a fair battle is at a-spec fprmula gt. RH ofc..

But the ai is less aggressive with their tackles then before. They are deadly on the ovals though. Sudden spins thanks to nudging my tail has happened more then once. And i hardly drive those

The pace of the AI has been improved compared to GT4. But the behavior they introduced that the AI just lets you through when you're besides them or very close on their tail is even more annoying than just 'slow AI'.

Arrgh, double post... Damn those cellphones ;/

Every AI I've seen literally lets off the accelerator as soon as you go near them, so much so that they change gears down.
Then after your past they give up: even if it was a bit of a challenge to catch the car, once your past they just drop off completely.

I also have no comprehension of how the AI can be so slow that I'm out-turning LMP/groupC cars with a (fully tuned) murcielago LP670 around the ring. They're just cruising around the corner then take a week to accelerate again, ontop of them braking a week early. This is the same with almost every race in the game.

Very correct R.S., although I do find them fairly competative on braking if you don't use ABS.

Currently this is like the first thing I wish they would adapt in a patch. In GT5P , the AI was maybe a bit slower, but at least you could put up great fights with them if you chose the right car to compete.

Yeh, before the patch. You don't get that anymore. It's already been said - they made the AI easy to pass to make licenses etc. easier. So now they just slow down when you are near them thanks to all the people who complained that they were too aggressive. You can't race against them anymore, the best you can do is racing karts.

Certain circumstances don't allow me to play online, so i'm stuck with these slow boring A.I drivers, PD has created. Its the main reason i don't play it as much anymore....damn i miss online.

Blame B-spec.
They were able to make some decent AI in previous GTs, but then with this "learning" AI driver playing for you, it's suddenly crap. Maybe it had to be or their "learning" AI couldn't compete with it (which would make B-Spec very difficult), or perhaps the new system simply doesn't enable the AI to drive cars at all quickly. It's as though they think they're on Comfort Medium or Hard tyres all the time. Truly terrible, and even worse is the way they brake when you aren't even close to being alongside them on the outside.

I to have noticed the A.I to be a bit lame not like previous games because i have also noticed that they don't ever make mistakes too the only time they go offroad is when my b.spec drivers pushes them off :D
