Good point, that shows about how much I know about wine.

When I stocked wine at the supermarket years ago, the cheapest stuff had screw-caps, the rest were corked. So I'm being elitist, I suppose.

I'll never get it - since when did they allow wine to be sold at supermarkets? They do here in Louisiana, and in Texas, which was total culture shock (ish) for me. Must put wine stores nearly out of business

Welcome to the South, Yankee! :D

Florida law (not sure about other states) states you can sell wine, but not hard liquor. So you can buy a bottle of Kendall-Jackson at the market, but you can't get a box of breakfast cereal and a bottle of Chivas Regal in the same place...

 Same here too - no hard liquor.

We also have "blue laws" that forbid the sale of alcohol during certain times on Sunday. It varies from town to town. In some cases, you have to stock up on Saturday or just wait for Monday.

Not sure why, maybe too many hicks were showing up to church piss-drunk.

It's the Australians leading the way on this one. Hardys in particular are putting screw-caps on some of their higher-rate table wines, such as the Dry Riesling.
