I'm doing horribly with it :guilty:i did not expect this at all to be honest.

I'm thinking all the years playing the GT series since part 2 with the controller has made me this way,Did it take you guys a while to get decent with the Wheel?

This is disheartening 👎

It is very rough to re-learn. Stick to slow cars and try to keep them from sliding AT ALL!

You will come around and never look back!

Just enjoy the drive.

yeah... when i bought a wheel..at first i was very disappointed and did'nt think it was close to reality at all... but with time and practice i finished to appreciate it and now i can't play without a wheel.... begin with low force feedback and than increase it as long as you get used to it..

Don't be too hard on yourself. Using a wheel can take some getting used to. Some people adapt quickly, while others take longer. Just give yourself time.

it takes about a month to get used to the wheel, even if you drive in real life.

it is 400% better than using a controller. stick with it. Redo your licences, a-spec and youll be flying very soon.

Thanks guys,.I gave drifting a shot a few times,HOLY ****....i couldnt do anything lol I find it funny i can do really well and kill it on the autumn ring track and with the wheel i just go all over the place ha!

The Mazda MX-5 TC is a really great car to practice with I found out, cars like the ferrari f40 which is one of my favorites was ridiculously difficult to control.I will keep on practicing with low-mid powered cars. Thanks again.

Could try re-running some of the basic license's. Worked for me last time I had my wheel up and running.

Stick to it, and you'll never drive with the controller again.

Drifting is about the hardest there is with a wheel.
Start with that after you mastered normal racing, until than stay away from it (or use the DS3)

As everyone said, it'll take a bit to get use to. Driving some low end cars with maybe 200 HP in the rain, will help you with throttle/brake control and car control.

A wheel is way different than the controller, you actually have to do work. It all pays off in the end though, you'll realize you'll never go back to the controller again and you'll have a greater appreciation for Sim racing.

Don't get discouraged, like everyone else says, it takes practice and patience.

Here are a few things that I found out worked for me,

Never yank the wheel, always smoothly turn it back

Play without shoes on, use only socks. I feel one has better throttle control with just socks on.

Re-do your license test, that will help out a great deal in getting a feel for using a steering wheel.

Keep those things in mind and next thing you know you'll be going two seconds faster than any of your controller times.

Practice and good nights of sleep and you will learn quickly.
That might sound dumb for advice but its actually a good thing to practice in the morning
because its in our delta sleep that we solve problems, kind of.

I hated my G27 the first time I used it as well but with some practice I got better, a lot better. Also, having it properly mounted makes a world of difference either with a wheel stand, a playseat, or a home built rig. I can't ever imagine using a controller again.

It would be best to start the game over with another profile just to get used to using the wheel.

I got used to it after 10 minutes, since I drive real car, I know what to expect :D

Im no pro with it... i still better drift with sixaxis.. race driving is about the same level..

I drive in real life as well, a stick shift s13.guess everyone has their amount of time to adapt. I find I need to learn how to properly and smoothly turn the wheel during sharp turns, i sometimes do it awkward.

I've had a G25 wheel since they first came out and PS3 since it came out (Fatboy) was about 50% into GT4 before PS3 allowed the use of force feedback for wheels was also a learning curve, hang in there.

It took me about a month to adjust. I found that I needed to change most of my tuning set ups for the suspension to get the handling that matched the better characteristics. Of the wheel. I'm still adjusting to some things. Occasionally I return to the DS3 for TT. Stick with it. It is worth it in the end.

Hey man, I'm from Central nj too :) 732 here, where ya from?

Woah woah woah! dont jump straight into drifting. I have owned a wheel for nearly 2 years and am only starting to get decent at it. :D but yeah like everyone has said, stick at it, it will take a month or so to start getting used to it. 👍

You pretty much got to relearn the game..
Try going over the licence tests again!
Also, what helped my learn to control a sliding car was to do a bit of dirt driving.. A drift on dirt is so much easier to control than on track, no snap back and stuff.. Give it a go!

I have some great news, since ive got it....ive been playing at my girlfriends place all this time.Today i brought it home and played in my room. What i noticed was at my gf's placed i was a bit cramped...not 100% comfortable playing. In my room i have a good sitting position and my skills increased dramatically. It's amazing how just the right posture helps with this wheel.

732 also. Edison!

I was in your shoes about a year ago! Found a g27 and playseat evolution on Craigslist for 450. Some of the best money I've ever spent. Consider the nixim mod, its a stiffer spring for the brake and makes the pedal feel very realistic. The pedals will need to be hard mounted to something or get a "rig" as they're called.

But one thing at a time. Drifting is still damn hard but racing is glorious! Get to those license tests again!

Now I have 3 tv's 3 ps3's and triple screen setup, even a crushed velvet center console!

you're set up sounds insane lol im thinking of just going for the wheel stand pro since ill be jumping back and forth from my place to my gfs.I invade her place with GT5 haha god she hates the game.

It took me a week of solid driving to get as fast with my DFGT as the DS3. Now I'm faster with the wheel and this shows up more with a more powerful car.

Like stated above, it is all about addapting to the wheel... In the end you will find to be faster... For me the G27 lived up to the expectations from the moment I used it with a proffesional wheelstand... I would be lost without them now :)

Well, as all said - it takes time - 1-2 weeks are enough!
Forget drifting (for now) - switch ABS OFF! With a wheel ... you are like driving a different game altogether!!!

The gear changes though  ... I use the flaps! But that's another story.
